Hey all,

I took the hard top off the new jk yesterday but now have the typical storage. I'd like to build or buy a hoist so that it can be lifted and stored on the roof. What have you guys seen or done to accomplish this? I've seen some diy stuff and some off the shelf solutions.

With the trailer coming back soon, I'll need the storage back.

Check the mud forum. Lots of posts of pics of hoists and garage storage. I'd do it for the 40's top, but my garage ceiling isn't high enough.

You aren't going to go wrong for $150.00. This is probably cheaper than your time is worth:

Here is a homemade one, but the ceiling in the guy's garage is very tall. You could tweak this a little and run the crane/hoist from the side as a wall mount:

I ended up buying Harkens Hoist (http://www.hoister.com/). I'll let you know how it works.

I rearranged the garage so that the new Jeep and the top fit in there but once the trailer comes back, all bets are off. The Top needs to go UP!

this is a way late post but my dad just used some large eye hole screws in the beams across the ceiling of the garage and pulled the top up with ratchet straps and left it there. then tied a strong rope into the eye screws and around the top for extra support

This is what I did with my old 4Runner. Not the easiest or coolest way, but it only cost about $30 for the straps and hooks from Lowes.
