At 12 custom made vehicles a year, I'm betting they're out of your price range. And mine. And everyone on my block combined.
Still, I want one. :thunb:

I was right. I found this write-up on a website that features stuff I can't afford. We could get one for the club if every member ponied up about $5,800. (Nah, I'd rather have another 40 anyway.)
Part sports car, part race truck, part fighter jet – behold the Shawdow Hawk, a new "Super Terrain Vehicle" or STV from Colorado. The $1 million-plus monster is limited to just 12 examples per year built to order and is available in several fully-customizable configurations for street, desert, battlefield, snow and other applications. The fastest model packs a whopping 1,100 hp engine, does 0 to 60mph in 3.5 seconds, and eats Hummers for breakfast. All feature daylight cameras, active suspension, camber and caster control systems, driver activated ride height control of over 3.5 feet, 46 inch wheel travel and 3/16 inch monocoque construction. Delivery of the first Shadow Hawk, designed to be a high performance road machine and off road vehicle in one with nearly unlimited versatility, is slated for late 2011.

I'll stick with my M274 Military Mule, ha. Not as fast as the featured vehicle, but will go more places...

Those are pretty sharp set ups, I like the Desert Hawk model. I did not see where they have prices listed on their website.

If you have to ask, you can't afford it. ;)
I saw $1.2 million mentioned on one website.

Meh.... seems like another silly project that will never take off. I reference the fact that they don't show real pictures of the vehicles and only computer renders. Its easy to say you are going to build something like that, and completely another to actually get it done. To me, it doesn't even look that useful. No ground clearance, questionable styling and a lot of gimmicks. I've seen a couple of these kinds of companies that love to make big claims about stuff, usually with a "high end sports car" type vehicle that will outclass all the competition. That is, it will if they ever actually build it. 99% of them never even get past the basic design stage. I would say this is another one to add to that list.

Starts at $778,000 or so. Saw that on their Facebook page. From the looks, the ground clearance is adjustable, with 48 inches of wheel travel.

I like that they say on the desert hawk that it has a "This model is fitted with a flipper mechanism to put the vehicle back onto its tires if it is on its side or top." I'd like to see one actually built.

I agree Josh, that was my first thought too that those are some dang big tires for about 4 inches of ground clearance, till Rob posted up their writeup. Its a little more interesting knowing that, but yea, the lack of real pictures tells me they havnt even built a prototype.

Did a little checking on this and found a fun little video.
I like the FJ55 at the beginning and how the guy can run through a wall that stops a car. :D

Yeah....I didn't see the height adjustment thing until after I wrote the stuff above. I do like the idea of the "spider drive", since it seems like the best way to get reliable power to each wheel independently and is inherantly strong. That said, they are still going to have a very hard time making this a vehicle that can compete with both sports cars and offroad vehicles. None of that drivetrain will be light weight, and if they are truly going to put a 1300 horsepower diesel engine in it, then thats going to weigh a lot too. Weight doesn't traditionally equal performance, even with those kinds of numbers. To me, I'd rather spend $20-100k on a completely tricked out rock buggy, buy a sports car (pick your poison anywhere from $50-200k), and a vehicle to transport both. You could have all that, and still have $800,000 left in your pocket compared to this one vehicle that probably won't do either as good as the two dedicated vehicles.
This is something that would be cool to see in a movie, but I'm not expecting it to see the light of day.
p.s. That was some serious death wobble on that FJ55 in the video Chris posted. Remind me to ward for evil suspension geometry spirits from now on. :D

That's cuz Chief Dan George didn't sprinkle the "car-stopping wall" dust on the road until after the 55 went by that spot. Not to say the FJ wouldn't have gone through it, minus the death wobble, of course. ;

After the Plymouth hit the wall the driver ran through the wall to help the driver - was it a single use wall Rob?
Chief Dan George doesn't make half-assed walls.

Yes, single use wall, on purpose. White Boy had to go back through the wall to learn that a badass in burning a Plymouth can still try to take you down with him in the flames. Notice how nonplussed Chief Dan George was? He set it up. Knew what would happen the whole time.
So many things wrong with this clip.

I'd love to see one. But for that kind of money??? (I have a hard enough time worrying about pinstripes on my Jeep). :D But I guess if you have that kind of money, you can afford to have it re-painted every two weeks!

I said it was a "car-stopping wall," not a Jan-Michael Vincent-stopping wall. :) The Chief know JMV would go back and didn't want him to bust up that pretty face.

Speaking of the Arnold...he was one of the first people to drive this concept - the H2 :lmao: I took this picture at the Carlisle All Truck Nationals around 1998-1999 IIRC.

Chief Dan George sprinkled [transparent] corn starch. If hit with a hit velocity it isn't compliant, lower velocity and it moves/yields conforming to the projectile.

Who is Jean Michael Vincent? I haven't watched any TV in the last 30 ++ years...don't feel like I am missing anything, but sometimes a name sounds familiar and I don't place it...

The name sounds familiar because JMV was probably a known entity 30+ years ago before you stopped watching. ;)
