Just got this press release from the USFS:
Road Work to Cause Potential Delays on Johnny Park Road
Fort Collins, Colo. (August 5, 2010) – Construction work on the Johnny Park Road on the Canyon Lakes and Boulder Ranger District is expected to start as soon as August 9, 2010, and could cause temporary delays.
Three miles of Johnny Park Road, located east of the junction with Boulder County Road 82, will be reconstructed to allow trucks to remove logs as part of a hazardous fuels reduction project in the area. Delays of up to 20 minutes could occur. The contractor has 30 days to complete the reconstruction and work will not take place on the weekends unless absolutely necessary.
Johnny Park Road will remain open, but travelers in the area are urged to avoid construction equipment. The road is located seven miles south of Estes Park near the boundary of Larimer and Boulder counties.
This road is popular with the 4-wheel drive community. If you are looking for other areas to drive, please contact our Visitor Information Services at 970-295-6700 or 303-541-2500.
