Dakan Road

Dakan Road is no longer a 4x4 road after being graded to a smooth dirt road suitable for any 2wd vehicle.

Here are a couple pics for nostalgia when Dakan Road was a tough 4x4 trail.

The last time I went down Dakan Mt. Rd was about ten(?) years ago. In the dark, I was able to straddle the rut all the way without dropping in, whew. Bummer that it's smoothed out now.

Just ran this 2 weeks ago, it really cant be considered 4x4, there was one (short) bypass that looked interesting but I think the forest service was keeping people off of it. There were no signs keeping you off it but it is not worth driving there for just that. There are great views and some cool camping, just not off of Dakan Mnt. it is posted that no one is allowed to have a fire.

This trail is nothing more than just another way to get to Rampart, It dumps you off south of Devils Head where Rampart and South Jackson Creek meet.
