Well it all started a couple weeks back when I was talking to Ed (Southpaw) about some 18" rims he had. He had a buyer for them already but was unsure if the deal was going to go through. He kept updated as he said I was next in line if the deal did not go. Well I get this call Tuesday and am told that the rims are mine if I still wanted them. Hell yeah I wanted them still.:D So we meet up and head to his house. Ed had mentioned that I needed to get the rear of my truck up as it was sagging in the rear. So he offers to help me do a shackle flip.
Now he says it "should" only take a couple of hours. :lmao:.Time 4:00pm... We get started, jack up the truck, break loose bolts, get things moved out of the way and start cutting.:wrench: Things seem to be moving along great, then a couple of easy snags, no big deal we still have time. Finally we get it all back together and on the ground, step back to look and HOLY COW.!! The rear is so far up in the air! So we pull out the tape and see just how high it was. The front was sitting at 25" ground to bumper, the rear 34.5", yep 9.5"s higher. Looked like a HUGE hot rod.
So we take a look to see what we need to do to bring it back down to reality. Smaller blocks as I had the 4" block. So we run back to my house to get a set of blocks. Time 9pm ish.... Back at his house we get to :wrench:. Get the new blocks in and back on the ground. Things look good. We get the new wheels on the rear and move to the front. Jack it up get the new wheels on there. Back on the ground and check everything. Well I'm no longer in the a Hot Rod, good sign right.? We thought so, so we made one last check of everything and wait right there..... the drive shaft is now pinched between the axle and trans.:bang: Can't drive it like this, it needs to come out and go to Bill to get shorted. Well getting that out was another task as there was no play in the slip yolk to get it out. About an hour later it's out and the T-case is caped. I leave it there and Ed gives me a ride home. Time 4:30am.
Ed dropped of the shaft at Bill's :bowdown:and picked me up so I could get some new lugs and things we needed. Called Bill to get a ETA on the shaft.... 4:30-5:00. UMMM I have to be at work at 4. So I get a ride to work and Bill drops the shaft off at Ed's. They go to put it in and now the axle is pitched up to high. So Ed heads back to my house to get the last set of blocks I had and puts them in while I'm at work.:bowdown:Finally it all came together and back on the road just as I'm getting off work at 11pm. So Ed comes rolling down the road to get me and I'm like WOW she looks great....!!!!!
