Ok, so it wasnt necessarily "trail Carnage", but carnage none the less. I was trying out my new twin stick, and got up against a rock, and when I powered over it my drag link bent like a rubber band. Since I can no longer splice words between the pics, your just going to have to figure it out. But my link bent at the end, so I cut the bend out, and sleeved it in 1" angle, then reinforced the other side. Also took the hint and reinforced my spare while I was at it. I think something was screwy with the metal though, as the cut closest to the bend cut like butter, and the one on the better metal took some serious effort to cut. Oh well, should be good now!

At least it happened close to home and not on the trail.

Steve if the steel cut fairly easy that is a good sign the it had lost its temper ie; has been heated and not let cooled down before reheating. This is where on steel and other metals it is a good idea to weld a little in one area then move to the opposite end and weld a little then let it cool down and start over so not to totally lose the temper. Better to find this weak link now than on Spring Creek. Hope the back works out better for you.
