Well technically it is off-road Chris so why not?
Can we have a "I'm too old for this crap" section?
You know Rob I ran into an older gentleman last weekend on the Thunder Lake Trail in RMNP/Wild Basin who was in his 70's, had partial facial paralysis from a stroke he'd had. After a little talking, he told me he had torn his achilles tendon 4 years ago. He was a little slow, but he was climbing around on all the rocks/boulders in the river I was and had a cast that I could only hope to achieve in my life time. He snagged his rig once and broke it clean off, took him all of 5 minutes to re-do a 2 fly rig, he was fishing size 18 & 20 fly hooks (pretty small).
Don't tell me you're too old, even though I give you sh!t about it every chance I get!

Fixed it for ya!
No, how about The Curmudgeon's Corner? I could use a place where I could yell at virtual kids to get off my virtual lawn. :brody: :)

Good point. But there are some things I can't do anymore because my body's too beat up.

Well I didn't get into his whole life story, but he served as a medic in the Army and was stationed at William Beaumont in El Paso TX, he asked where my wife and I were from and that's how that came up, surely his body has seen some miles too. I don't expect your old ass to go snow boarding, but don't sell your self short on what you're too old to do, like I told you on the other forum, you're one of the few that I know that can play 18 holes in less than an hour, regardless if you're being carried around in a golf cart or not.
Anyway, done with the pep-talk! :thumb:

That'd be cool to have a section for this. I know Aaron always posted it in the Chit Chat section. But a separate section would be cool too.

You are the only one who seems to feel that you are too old to do stuff. If you keep telling yourself that, you will always feel too old to do it. I haven't quit boarding, snowshoeing, hiking, rock or ice climbing, etc, yet and I am older than you are. I also have a huge number of accumulated injuries that make waking up a joyful proposition daily......
I would have to say no to the "I'm too old for this crap section" mainly because I hope I will never be "too old for this crap". One of my climbing buddies who is a year older than I am, meaning he is 59 or 60, still gets out and climbs and hikes, though I have to listen to his "I am too old for this" BS every time we go to do something hard, long or both...most of my climbing partners are in there mid 20s to mid 30s. When we went into McCurdy Park Tower a few years ago (basically 6 miles uphill with a really nasty section of switchbacks) which is located at around 11,000 feet, the only way I could convince him to go was for me to carry all the heavy climbing gear (both his and mine) and food stuff. He got 'stuck' with carrying the sleeping bags and some clothing and managed to ***** about how much weight he was carrying the whole way in until I told him to stuff a sock in it. Oh...and we were going to be up there for 3 days and putting up some new routes, so the heavy stuff added up...

I don't think we need it due to this being a wheeling forum and last i looked there weren't any wheels on snow boards or skis> Not trying to put anyone out but aren't there forums for that stuff? Just my :2c: and you asked.

Well that's kind of why it's stuck down there in off-topic. I guess we would have to delete that whole section altogether!
I don't see the problem, lots of people on here enjoy hanging out with one another, have similar interests in other areas besides wheeling, why should they have to go else where to discuss those interests or make plans together?

Not trying to be a smart@$$ Sean, but does that mean skateboards would be okay? I don't want this to become a place where snowboarders come that don't wheel. But for fellow wheelers like myself that have other winter interests. But as RMH stated below there are some good people on this forum and if someone is looking for someone to hit the slopes with or to share pics of their latest trip then have at it. Either way I still love FR4x4 and whatever is decided I will be okay with.
I also think we need to add fishing to the list too!

Reese good sense of humor on the skate boards, they do make offroad skate boards too(see pic below).
Nah I am not trying to be an azz or anything like that, I was just posting my opinion since it was left up to everyone to give their opinions on. I see it is ruffling someone's few feathers and what I stated is beginning to be taken outta context by some but that is okay too it happens. I have no real problem with skiing or boarding, heck I used to ski too. I am looking at it like you mentioned about folks only trying to join for that reason. There is nothing wrong with hooking up with folks to go out skiing/boarding and posting up pics but why does it call for its own section rather that just under chat? This is going to turn out to have so many different link sections that it will get annoying. Ah gee why don't we just have a HOBBY section instead or something like that rather than all these different links, just a thought!

I would say a member recreation section would be nice. I am hanging with Haku this weekend to watch some BBC F1 coverage.
Just about anything recreational outside of 4 wheeling would fit that catagory. :2c:

Sorry Sean if it seemed as though my feathers were ruffled, if I could grow feathers I wouldn't spend so much money at the fly shop buying them! :lmao:
I guess I tend to get a little short while waiting on our late ass day shift to arrive or sit down and get to work instead of hovering over the coffee pot, so I can leave, my bad!

Jock,
No problem I was not uptight about it at all, just trying to point out that might be best to put up a link like ColoDisco said, I just couldn't think of a better term. Oh I know what you mean about waiting on the Dayladies to relieve you so you can go home, I am in the same boat there. Have a good everyone!!:)

Gee...since I neither get my feathers ruffled, nor do I EVER say or do things that ruffle other people's, I think I will toss out my own 2 cents worth.
I don't see any reason why there shouldn't be a 'boarding/skiing' section as, for one, it would be a really good way for people to hook up with folks here that share the same interests, and two, it would be a great way to keep up with conditions at areas or back country sites. We have a lot of folks who are spread out and do both area and back country stuff.
Ditto with the skate boarding stuff. Granted, you won't see me doing this, although I had my first skateboard way back in the 60s, but, again, it is a good way to hook up with other folks for a day in one of the parks or something.
If we had a larger number of folks here who were into technical rock and ice climbing, I would be all for that, too, and for the same reasons. We already have a hiking/biking section and the people who frequent that section are into hiking and biking. Different strokes and all that.....with a general common interest of wheeling and liking the outdoors to hold things together....
