Just saw on the weather we got our first snow here in Colorado. It snowed on Silerton Mountain yesterday.

Didn't it snow a couple weeks ago? It was a Wednesday - we had rain here, but snow in the mountains. Is there particular criteria to call it a "snow"? I would call what fell a couple weeks a dusting.

Maybe Silverton was the first town or the first ski area to get snow? That would make sense as the 14ers have already been dusted.

Winter is our favorite season.... We've always been prepared and ready to spend LOADS of time outside camping and snowshoeing. This year is looking like it'll be different. The Forester, not being lifted, has a hard time dealing with snow... 'Burb is out of commission. Plus, we need the burb for camping as our two dogs are honestly getting too old to handle sleeping in the cold tent.
Sigh. I know, just not a good day I guess.

It's still a Subaru :erm: :p Are you ever gonna get that Burb up and running again? :wrench:
We went up to Brainard Lake today. It started snowing as we hiked up to Long Lake and by the time we've returned to our car it was getting pretty nasty up there. I say bring it on
On an (sorta) unrelated note, I've found a screw in one of my tires this morning. It wasn't leaking and Longmont's Discount Tire was extremely busy, so I've decided we were gonna be fine for the day. And we were :thumb: We took my mom on a scenic trip through Gold Hill and up to Brainard for a few hours of hiking.
We're taking it easy now because of Lisa's pregnancy, so no crazy family runs for a while :frown:

It snowed some during the T33-A trip today. And it was cold with no doors on the FJ. :frown:

You all who know me know what I think about all this. I need to just come up with a standard reply, something like, "I hate snow"

I'll post some pictures little later. It's very nice though with lots of foot trails :thumb:

yea, its time to put my doors on as soon as i get a chance. I was going to do it this past week but I have just gotten too darn busy.
Subacool - you should pick up a tire plug kit. They are pretty easy and a great thing to have. I have plugged many tires from nail holes and used them for a long time. All you do is open the hole a little more with one tool, then insert the plug with another tool, twist and pull the tool out, and you done! No more nail hole!

Yeah, but not one I want to beat up and break. No clue on the 'burb. When my finances get better. Maybe after the new year.

There was snow on Rabbit Ears pass yesterday. Very dreary drive home from Criag. Rained Friday and all day Saturday 30 miles north and 25 miles west of Craig. Made Antelope hunting very hard.

If you don't mind crowds (which I abhor when I am outdoors) and really packed down trails, it probably isn't bad. It is kinda worth a trip, but there are too many places to go in the winter without stepping on other people's heels and get into untracked snow, that I never go there anymore at all. Different strokes....You will get to see the newest, greatest, latest and most expensive gear around.....worn by a lot of people going for their 1 hour Colorado "back country" fix....
