On my phone it kind of looks like a mangled lead spring bushing sleeve. Then again, its about 1/4 inch tall on my phone. Ill probably have a different guess when I get home!

The good ol rubber coupling. Those can be a peal PITA sometimes. I am curious however. Why not just do the U-joint conversion?

It's actually for the rear driveshaft, it's what they use instead of a U-joint.

Its the sleeve inside the rear axle that mates up with the rear diff nipple (giggle) :D
