Canyon Lakes trails

I was just on the Canyon Lakes District website to check out the trail status page. I don't remember this from last year, but this year most of the trails have an asterisk by them. Scroll to the bottom and next to the asterisk is this: *Roads scheduled to close December 1.

Was that the case last year? I thought most of them closed only after the snow got too deep. Anyone know?

Wonder if this is a new forest service policy. I ran Button Rock over the weekend which is the spur near Johnny Park Road (218A, I think) and there was a sign posted at the trailhead saying that it would close on Dec 1.
