This almost seems too crazy to be real...I just stumbled on it.

Give me a nice tethering line and I would do it. I like the look of that better than regular climbing, as I am a weenie about that.

Crazy.

Google Mount Hua Shan or Huashan. It's call the most dangerous hiking trail in the world.

From that blog:

Why hasn’t the Chinese government done anything to improve the conditions of these paths to make them safer for the public?

The answer is easy, because not all places in this world believe as the Americans do, they don't see a need in changing something that's been there since 200 BC, to suit the general public's safety concerns, don't like it, don't go, period.

Here's some videos of it by the way:

Too bad we don't treat everything this way, too. I think we are the only country where some entity can be sued due to the stupidity of the people who go places or do things they shouldn't be doing....like ski areas for instance...or someone trying to sue the FS because they got 'hurt' rock climbing or hiking. Pathetic, really...Trail to dangerous? Well, use a little common sense and simply don't do it, or, if you do and happen to get hurt, suck it up and deal with it. I have always liked the European "Ski at your own risk" mentality. Nothing more, nothing less. No one is forcing you to go down the slopes and if you don't have the brains to figure out that skiing, for instance, harbors it's own dangers, then maybe, just maybe, you should be doing something else to begin with...

I would like to see the reaction of the Chinese government if some American tourist got on this trail, got hurt, and tried to sue them...

Looks a lot easier than approaches to 99% of the rock climbs that I do. "Entertaining" , rather than dangerous or scary, but that is a matter of perspective. The gondola ride looks like it would be fun.

Everyone should follow Gever Tulley's advice: Let kids do dangerous things (with proper knowledge and supervision, of course) or they won't learn anything. http://www.fiftydangerousthings.com/
