Find one that can pull two rigs and I'll go in on it with you. I've been thinking about doing one of these too....

Also thought about getting one without the box and make a flat bed for it too. I've heard of some people getting great deals on the 80's 26' diesel versions and have been meaning to go down to the "truck sales" for Uhaul to see what I can get out of them. The downside is they are slow as hell since they aren't turboed, but there are kits to add them. They have 7.3L Ford Powerstrokes engines.

Might be out of your budget though. I do know that Uhual rents trucks, but they aren't really great for towing. Penske might have something too. Every time I've looked into it though, its been more then I want to spend since you either rent it for the whole week or have to drive it there, return it to uhaul and then pick it up again, which incurs extra cost.

Not sure, but this is sounding kind of expensive. I guess we'll see though. Not sure on where to rent a flatbed trailer, but some of the equipment rental type places might do it.

I love the krawler hauler idea. I have come across several uhauls for sale over the years and that never even dawned on me. :thumb:

Make sure to ask about there age rental policy. Most places won't rent all but the smallest type of cars to anyone under the age of 25:

If you have an issue with this Brad, let me know and I'll put my name on it instead.

It sucks, at least on the Uhaul site, all of the 26' Diesel ones have evaporated lately. They have plenty of the 24' gasoline powered ones, but not sure what the deal is on the rest. I did send an offer on the "make an offer" link for the truck sales stuff for $1000 once, and while they did say they couldn't go that low, that I should talk to the Truck Sales guy in Thornton and I might be surprised how low they would go with one. I've thought about going down and making a $1500 offer on a ratty one with no box and good running engine and using it like that. We'll see though, as I don't have a ton of space to store a vehicle like that. I measured the spot next to my garage, and it would stick out into the alley a bit with a full box truck. If I did the flatbed idea, it would work better since I could cut the frame off just behind the wheels and it would still be long enough, but fit. If I went this way, adding a hitch bumper and towing a trailer behind it would be fairly easy and those trucks should be able to handle it.
