Has anyone ever installed one of these in a vehicle? How difficult would it be?

no harder than installing a CB. Basically its a CB shaped unit that you need to mount somewhere, and I assume an antenae you need to run. Nothing more complicated than that that I know of. I have thought about this as well. Always enjoy listening to scanners.

Thanks for the insight. And I know worst comes to worst I can head to Radio Service Center and pick his brain.

I have 2 apps on my iphone 4 for scanners. Only problem is they only have half the metro area on there.
Have the important ones tho, CSP, Denver, Denver Metro west and east. I sometimes just listen to
see what is going on out there.

yea, i listen on my droid sometimes, but not really as usefull as a mobile mounted scanner. They will change with location and stuff like that. plus you can actually hear them

I agree Steve. Would love to add one to my Rig as well. If for no other reason to get real time accident info!

You can also get handheld scanners. We keep several of them around the office, plus we have three or four scanners going at once in the newsroom. Over the years, I've had to learn to tune them out until something newsworthy was broadcast.

Radio Service Center in lakewood sells em. There's a number of online retailers. I don't know how much they run though, im interested in that.
