I believe we might have done this at one time, but what was your first vehicle?
Mine was a 1972 Plymouth Fury 2. It was my great grandpas first brand new car. It has a gutless 318 and has been rebuilt once and the body currently resides with 443,xxx, The roll overs are documented in my grandpas service book i have for it.

No doubt James May and Jeremy Clarkson poking fun at this one! They drove one across the sahara or something like that.

Mine was a 1972 Plymouth Fury 2.
Basically the same car, but it was a Dodge Coronet wagon with 318 and TF727. Big POS. No pics handy, but it was a boat.

Mine was a 55 Buick Sedan. Didn't look anything like this pictures as it was a rust bucket. I painted it battle ship gray and paid $200 for it. I left it by the side of the road when it finally quit.

I found that out by looking for a pic of my first car.

1987 Reliant K wagon which when bought smelled of wet dog (previous owner used to take dog to mississippi to fish with). Sister drove it for a year and then handed down to me. After owning for a year, I turned it into a project/learning vehicle where I learned how to and installed a 2 pump hydraulic setup, 14 inch triple gold wire wheels, 4 15 inch subwoofers. The thing was obviously rediculous even by the "lowrider" scene standards and probably worse by some of your guys standards. I look back and laugh about it now but at the time it was the coolest thing in the world to me, just wish I had a pic still.

Or fourth. It may have been on the forum before it crashed, too. At least I think it was.
And Matt, you don't count...you are still on your first car/rig...Be lucky it is so nice...
And mine may not have been a 55. Too long and too many rigs ago to really remember anything other than it was an old POS Buick Sedan somewhere between a 1949 and 1955...I do remember the battleship gray paint job and the fact that I stenciled "USS Holocaust" on the side in white... I bought it the summer I turned 16 just before getting my driver's license and moving out of the house..

I had a 76 Mercury Cougar. I should be quite used to, as Rob puts it, 40 acres of hood.
What I didn't add in the last threat was that I had the car picked out for me by my mom and a friend of a friend who was some top dog in a dealership. It cost $300. It was cheap because the previous owner committed suicide in it. She did not tell me that immediately upon giving it to me. I missed that car once I traded it in for a POS Mercury Lynx gutless wondermobile that required use of the emergency lane to go up hills.

Well my first car did not run it had a seized block and it was a '67 Nova 4 door, my first truck was a '57 F-100 Custom cab that looked like it was pulled out of a swamp and dad & I completely rebuilt the whole truck (the 57 I have now is built similar to the first one). My first running car was a rare '69 Mercury Comet Sport Coupe.

What's wrong with purple?
You have what amounts to a classic car, you can paint it any color you want and it is going to look good. I would stick to the purple....

I had a 1981 Toyota Corolla-Tercel, in white. It had a whopping 62hp NEW, and it was 15 years old when I got it. It slowed down going up hill around Chicago if I had 3 people in the car. My first motorcycle(also a 1981) had more hp than my first car did.
Like this, but in white:

My first car was a 72 VW beetle with a modified 1838 motor, In the 80's it would smoke Ford 5.0 Mustangs and Chevy V8 Camaros. I made a guy in high school with a new 1984 V8 camaro (that his daddy just bought for him) cry because my 72 was faster in a race to 100 MPH. The bug would do 117 mph in 4 th gear, now that was a thrill ride. I looked just like this one:

Bryan's VW brought this to mind. It wasn't my first car but it was the first new car I bought off the showroom floor in 1971 or thereabouts. It wasn't fast but it sure was cool, I made numerous cross-country tours is this thing including my first visit to Colorado when I didn't think it would have enough power to get me across Loveland Pass. After making it I did adjust the carb for altitude! :erm:

As a point of reference it cost $2100.00 dollars. :smokin:

My dad did the same in the early 70's. He bought one in California with the rare AC option and we moved to Colorado. In 1974 we hit a Bull Elk in it by Grand Junction, the front trunk absorbed the hit so all 4 of us did not hurt. The car was NOT totaled like most cars of today would have been. I miss the old Bugs!
