I was searching for the OSHA/AWS chart for welding filters and discovered this blog: http://ppeforum.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

It's pretty obvious the author has a vested interest with his brand recommendations. I posted a link because he offers some pretty good pointers with simple, straightforward explanations. I learned a few things myself. :)

Here's the chart I found:

The OSHA chart is shown in 29 CFR 1910.133(a)(5). Searching turns up a number of pages, including this one: http://ecfr.gpoaccess.gov/cgi/t/text/text-idx?c=ecfr&sid=5457085f0024aba2074048055f32c868&rgn=div8&view=text&node=29:5.1.1.1.8.9.34.2&idno=29

I found the AWS chart on page 5 of this document: http://www.aws.org/technical/facts/FACT-31.pdf

I weld in the Dark with a good old #12 Gold haha. I get to distracted when i can see what i am doing with the lighter shades. I think shade can also vary upon eye color as well.
