Feel sorry for her, but I imagine every parent has had at least one of this kind of moment. I mean one where you unintentionally do harm to your kid due to bad reflexes, not seeing them, bad decision, etc. Its not really funny, but it happens. I think his reaction was correct and I'm sure both he and his daughter learned their lesson about "Xbox etiquette".

It does remind me of a segment that a comedian named Michael McIntyre does on one of his comedy specials involving Wii Tennis and his kid walking in just as he goes to swing.

Not funny but it looks like dad did the right thing. Accidents happen and like Josh said most parents have had something along this line happen, the difference being it wasn't recorded and posted on YouTube. I know I had my share of "damn, did I really do that" moments with my kids. The one that stands out for both my daughter and myself was when we were goofing around play fighting and she stepped into my punch and took it on the side of her head. She was probably 15 at the time and went down hard. If it was YouTubed it would have made a good case of parental abuse. Yes, we still laugh about it because it was such an odd thing to happen.

Yeah - unfortunately, these accidents happen and then we never live them down. My husband was playing with our first born when she was only about 6 mo. old. He was sitting in his office chair lifting her up in the air over his head when his chair tipped over and they both crash-landed. A glass lamp that was on the desk became a part of the crash and we feared there was glass in her face. Emergency room visit was even more of a nitemare. I'm sure that dad meant no harm. I would have never put the video on Youtube even though it's clearly not abuse.

This past Thanksgiving, me, Britton and our youngest were in our hotel room ruff-housing on the bed. Britton picked up Annika and slammed her onto my lap. The back of her head hit me square on the nose (which I think may have broke). She didn't get hurt - but I was a mess.

X2. Mine was when I failed to catch my son, when he was about 2, as he was running by me and diving. I caught him several times and he was having a blast. Until I turned to do something else and he ran and dove and I missed him. He did a full-speed face plant into the fireplace hearth, right on the edge. Quick to trip to the ER. He looked like he'd gone a couple of rounds with Ali, but fortunately nothing was broken. But his face sure was swollen and bruised. I still cringe when I think about it, 20 years later.

:lmao: Reminds me of when my brother was trying to show his future in-laws what a good father he'd be for their grandchild. He playfully tossed the kid in the air which the kid loved. Unfortunately he didn't realize until too late that he had moved a few feet and was under the doorway between the living and dining rooms. Oops!

Good thing he wasn't under the ceiling fan.

Maybe I should clarify what I kind of found funny, it wasn't the little girl getting smacked, it was dad being a complete dumb ass not paying attention, being too wrapped up in the game. Like I said, kind of funny, her getting smacked like that, not at all. I am wondering why in the world you would record yourself playing a video game and then post that on Youtube, but then again I guess that would also be another indicator of a dumb ass. :frown:

Hmmm, yeah, brain damage-pass it on!!!

Maybe it's a PR campaign to make people think he's a klutz instead of an abusive parent.

Maybe I'm overreacting, but I have intimate knowledge of head trauma that never goes away. There is no way to undo some mistakes.

I'm just finishing reading Dave Pelzer's books about surviving horrific abuse and my image of people is thus altered but I choose to believe the child is limber enough where no physical trauma was inflicted.

I sure hope so but if not I hope the video will make for quick case. :frown:

Not too funny to me either, and I don't even have kids. Accidents do happen though, but posting that on YouTube is a really good indicator to me that the gene pool is getting very shallow....starting off with why you have a camera set up to record yourself watching a game on the X Box and going progressively downhill from that....
