4x4 with large tires & aggressive tread, good ground clearance, & lockers? Apparently this guy doesn't need that stuff to do this "hard core Jeep trail" (his words, not mine).

:lmao: It makes me chuckle

That's Left Hand Canyon. And it is not even the hard stuff. But, still yet, he is taking it off road.

Ooooooo! That was "a hard-core" trail right there! Yeah - I don't think he made it to the trail head if he's calling it one of the toughest in CO. Anyone have a guess at what trail he was trying?

The wife thought it would be funny to buy one of those and throw some big tires on it somehow, then go wheeling with the group. Pretty funny stuff.

What was the point of that "test"? I guess to confirm that a two door hatchback is not a off-road vehicle. : )

What an ass. I was doing "hard core trails" in a Honda Civic, a Hyundai, and Volvo 145E just to get to rock climbs years ago, if that is what someone wants to call "hard core". I repeat...what an ass. Must be associated with EHow as that seems to be the kind of lame information that runs all through that site.

Next time I run through a mud puddle on a sillyass dirt road, I will make sure I tell LaDawn that we are "wheeling and doing a hard core trail". I am sure she will be impressed, too, as I think she has wheeled the Escort harder than that showing clients mountain properties....

Hey does anyone know what the song is in the background??

I turned the volume off after the first bit of BS, but judging from the content and the way this guy 'oh so serious', my guess is anyone of the following: John Denver, Barry Manilow, BeeGees, or the Monkeys....or just some really gagme Muzak..Guy looked like he was all about elevator music.

TW, speaking of EHow, bad information, and the internet, underhoodservice.com is another site you really DON'T want to go to to find answers to your car/rig problems. I have gotten bounced into his (Gary Goms) site more than once looking for information and, to give a couple of examples, found:

That Toyota makes a "Pathfinder" that he did a lot of diagnostic work on (Impressed already? I was....)
And that"In order to replace the water pump on a 3.4L Toyota engine, you also have to remove the injector plenum, the valve covers and the camshafts" .

That last one pretty much clinched it for me...Popular site too, with a huge amount of "helpful" information......

My buddy Johnny in his bug at Hackett Gulch pre Hayman Fire. He got up Hackett rock unassisted. He had to be dragged up the hill before the rock but that's still way good IMO.

Hey, c'mon, he may have been doing the easiest stretch of Left Hand (I didn't see him hit any of the switchbacks), but he was doing it in MUD and SNOW! Wow. :lmao:

owww owww owww my brain hurts now!!!! He hit some mud..".oh that's bad that's bad, I hit something on the bottom of the car, I better see if there is anything leaking". He does not want to hit a boulder and tear up the car. Hmmm. Use your freaking tires to go over those 4 inch rocks on that hard-core dirt road!!! I took a PT cruiser off road in the dark (had to) and got my 78 Cougar stuck on a logging road (age 19, I get a pass) without knowing there was such a thing as four-wheeling, and this man is a reporter who is supposed to research what he is doing? I was yelling at my computer!!!

this man is a reporter

OK, the defensive journalist has to step in. He's not a real reporter. That's a CNN iReport. The iReport is the "user-generated section of CNN.com." He's a regular schmoe who thinks he's a reporter. :whatAreYouThinking: I think they call people like him posers.

That said, I've seen Denver news station "reporters" do worse. (Full disclosure: Yes, I work for a newspaper.)

Sad to say, if the industry keeps going the way it's going, you're going to get most, if not all of your news this way in the future. Sad and scary for truth, justice, democracy and the American way. :erm:

Been all over Hacket, Metberry and Longwater in a 2WD Mazda PU. Had to rally the hell out of it in some spots, others were a bit iffy, but that was the best thing we had at the time to get to the rock climbing located off of those roads. Again, pre Hayman Fire...Never went down there with other folks to climb, so it was just the truck and us...no straps, no winch...

I fully agree Rob. I would say I hear stuff as bad as this on a daily basis on the news around here. Especially Fox. I swear they find the dumbest people they can and throw them in front of a camera. I get pissed off 9/10 times I watch the news these days. Therefor I try not to watch a lot if it.

I watched this video twice, once in full screen. I notice the front is missing it's license plate, and what is that on the back? I smell a salesman, a car salesman, in a car that is now "used!"

I showed Hugh your post and he was wondering if the impending-catastrophic-head injury smiley was for me or the 'reporter'. :D

I expected something on a site with the CNN logo to be news or investigative reporting or something useful or with a modicum of provable information. Mea culpa.

There should be MORE people with your job Rob, especially for the online news delivery. I find that channel 4 is the WORST in posting stories and weather reports with multiple grammatical and spelling errors. Mine isn't perfect, but I am not posting for the public either.

The head-whacking's for the "reporter."

There are fewer and fewer people with my job. What happens when sites that repurpose (by which I mean steal) news stories from newspaper and the few decent news channels end up killing newspapers? The serious journalism done by the good newspapers will go away. Internet "news" providers aren't paying reporters to write for them, keep track of what the gubmint's doing (including covering your local city council and state government shenanigans, etc.) or any of the other things real news media do now. When real reporters all lose their jobs, those sites will be SOL. With luck, someone will figure out a model that works. It wouldn't be the end of the world if (when) newspapers go away, but the world still needs good watchdog reporting. And you don't get much of that from your local TV stations or especially cable. OK, rant off.

That reminds me of the jackass in the honda civic that headed up Eagle Rock. It was a car full of gang-banger looking individuals. The suspension was squating from the weight & draging on every damn rock. I bet the car was stolen and they were doing a joy ride before torching it or pushing it off a ledge.
