Celebrate my good fortune by giving everyone special to you an extra hug today. Better than winning the lottery is having pulmonary embolism that doesn't kill you! :thumb:

I'm home from the hospital, still kicking and appreciative of the fine doctors and medical people I've had helping me out.

Life is good! :)

I kind of wondered if that was what it was, but you said it was your Asthma cropping up. NPR had a thing on it and it had a lot of the same symptoms you described. Glad you got through it and keep those clots out of your heart from now on allright?

So let's wheel this weekend, Mr. Lucky!

Seriously, that's good news for what could have been a bad outcome. I'm guessing they put you on thinners and didn't have to cut?

I hugged my wife and the dogs when I got home from work, but I'll give 'em another. I'd give you a hug if I could. :thunb:

Life is bueno.

Thanks everyone! Right Josh, it wasn't asthma after all, it was all the clot.

A followup with my doc on my ER visit in Moab got scary when she told me she thought I had a lung clot, needed an MRI immediately, told me I could die, gave me a hug and sent me off for the tests. When the positive MRI results came over the phone Barb took me to the ER at Rose and reminded me to call our kids in case things went bad. It wasn't any fun obviously but I'm okay w/o surgery and now I spend the next 6 months on anti-coagulants and a gazillion blood tests to eventually figure out why it happened and whether or not it will again.

As I said, life is good!

I like your doc. I hear hugs are therapeutic. :)

Hey, if you want, I could bring you some pizza soup while you're recuperating. :thunb:

Mmmmm, pizza soup!

I think my recoup period will be 10 hours sleep tonight. Having people waking you every 2 hours gets old fast! :p

I hear that... in fact anyone who has ever been in the hospital for any reason (even child-birth) can hear that!!! But you let us know when or if you need something , OK?

Holy hell Chris! I am so thankful you went to the ER and your doc and the correct diagnosis was made AND that the PE didn't cause you to stroke out or check out. Please tell Barb I am happy things worked out well for both of you.

Really glad to hear that things are all right! Got your email, and you said that the asthma was kicking your butt, then get on the forum this AM and see this...

Wow...Glad that you are OK. Just don't cut yourself anytime in the next 6 months if you are taking thinners....

That is exactly what LaDawn's niece died from last year at the age of 22. Nice to hear that you didn't...

That is some REALLY SCARY stuff!!! So glad it's all turning for the better............. you don't think it was a Moab thing???

Thanks again everyone!

I avoid superstition Marty and will be back to Moab - I'm a "get back on the horse and ride" guy but have to say that Moab ER really blew the diagnosis. I'm particularly lucky because I stayed on for 5 days thinking I had an asthma attack rather than a clot floating around in my lung!

Barb has banned me from tools and knives and such while on anti-coagulants which will be interesting since she says that includes kitchen duty. I've always done 90% of the cooking so I expect that not to last. Like other old farts who have found they bleed much easier than when young I will be avoiding the garage for a while.

As a side note I'll add that something like this is a great motivator - as a hardcore nicotine addict of 40 years I had absolutely no trouble putting down the smokes. It takes just minutes to realize gasping for breath is a crappy way to die.

I'll wrap this up by saying I'm expected to be just fine, the clot still exists and preventive measures are in place to attempt to prevent it from happening again. The existing clot will be absorbed over time and while it's not uncommon for one to follow another w/o proper care but I have a fine doctor who told me yesterday that she likes me too much to let me go.

Thanks again for your kind thoughts!
