Well I've been keeping my eyes out for a while now and I came across this one over the weekend. Went up to Thornton to take a look. And well the darn thing just seams to have followed me home!
My initial impressions without tearing into it are this, The box is in fair condition at best. After I sandblast it I'll see where I stand as far as either fixing the dents, rips, and rust, or just building another box from scratch. So far it looks like the rust is merely surface which shouldn't be too bad to tackle. The reason why I decided to pull the trigger on this is everything under the box looks pretty straight. The rear cross-member looks a little tweaked but completely fix-able. The wheels and tires are in good shape, and I even got a spare! Even the hand brake still works.
So for starters I'm going to pull the hubs apart re-pack the bearings and make sure the trailer is sound to pull. Bolt the RTT onto it and use it for the summer. I may do a few things here and there but while the weather is good I want to be out using it, not keeping it in the barn in a hundred pieces. Then when winter comes around I'll sandblast, repaint, and refurbish everything. I'll see how I like the pintle hitch while on the trail. If I find it to be too obnoxious I'll convert over to a multi-axis hitch.
Pics...
(I'll get some better ones later)
