Five of us were able to make it today to the stockers without lockers run on Argentine Pass. The weather was great and the run went off without a hitch (other than Rob's little hardware problem). Here are a few pictures. I know others will post them as they get home.

Yeah, Brian (Titus) was in his stock Hummer. :)
Good run today with the usual good group of folks. I ran this trail in 2008, but didn't get all the way to the pass, so that was a plus today. It was windy and cold, but great views. Also ran into Jim (dr350jja) and Kathy on their dirt bikes at Waldorf Mine.
On a short side trip up McClellan, we stopped to let some ATVs go by. I figured I'd tighten up a loose nut on the rear passenger LCR that was rattling. Surprise. The nut was gone and the bolt was almost gone, literally hanging by a thread. Jacked it up (first time I've ever used my Hi-Lift on my rig), got the bolt out and tried the bottle jack on the axle to get the holes lined up to get the bolt back in. Wasn't having much luck until Steve started yanking on the tire. Bolt slid in like butta. Meanwhile, Eric, Stephanie and Brian were scouring their rigs for a nut that would fit the bolt. Score! Brian took a lug nut off his spare and it fit like a glove. Thanks everyone for the team effort to get me mobile again. I probably could have gotten off the trail with the bolt and no nut, but it would have shortened the wheeling (and we'd have missed the boulder-laden spur and fun water crossings) and been slow going on the way down. The aggravating thing is, I have spare bolts and nuts for the LCRs -- on the floor in my garage, where they didn't to me any good. (They're going in the rig tonight.)
One more reason why this is the best group of wheelers around. :thumb:
I'll get some photos up in a bit. Didn't get home till about 10:30.

Great run today! I really lost track of time. (there's never enough IMO) I think everybody made it home ok. I shot Eric a few text messages after Beau Jo's and he said he got back, but babied it down the mountain. Death wobble sucks! Anyhow here are some of my pics...

As you can see there's not much left of Argentine Pass after the peak.

A couple of old timers from back in the early 1900's with a present day shot in the same general area.

The usual things go in my post about the trail report:
I had a great time. I have made some good friends here. Nice to meet another new person.
I have a boatload of pictures to go through and then post up.
There are some excellent shots already submitted on this thread.
Rob- thanks for hanging out a bit and helping air up the blue pig.

Great pics! It's so beautiful in that area, especially when the alpines change! Great to hear everyone made it home ok!
I was up there last year when some guys were climbing that hill on four wheelers. I did it with my Jeep, it was difficult for me and took 3 or 4 tries. I get home and look at the pic and it looked sooo easy in the pic. :frown:

That hill's pretty loose and gets steep at the top. I did it three years ago in the FJC, but I used A-Trac. Might have had difficulty without it.

When I discovered I didn't have the spare bolt/nut combo you needed I figured I should be useful and document the process.
And BTW where did your spares come from, the ones not in your rig? Dealership or just matched at the hardware store?

:lmao: They're safely packed away in the FJC now. And I replaced the lug nut Brian gave me with a fresh nut and some Loc Tite.
Got the spares at Ace. I'm thinking of putting lock nuts on them now.

So what was the trail repair?
Lug nuts and bolts you can get at any auto place, if it was a lug nut.

I really like that area, I see people have been moving stuff around there at the Santiago mine some more. Good to see you guys had fun. Here is two sunrise pictures I took from the Waldorf mine a couple years ago. These were taken the 2nd week of June two years ago. Not the pics I was really looking for tho.

Post No. 5. :)
The lug nut replaced the lost nut on an LCR bolt.

Anybody get a pic of the chimney near my wrong turn on the way out? I'm trying to figure out if it is part of the old Dibbins Mill.
