I know this is a 4x4 forum, but since there was no 4x4 this past weekend I hooked up my (spoiled rotten) cats with a Catio. that is a real word. too many foxes in my 'hood to let them out, but they sooo want to be outside...

Dang, I thought our small beige dog was spoiled. That's sweet. It just needs some catio furniture and a tiny gas grill. :thumb:

That is really cool! My cats would love it. Kit or your own build design?

I own a pet care co. and as a side business I build stuff like this for our customers, also steps and ramps for old dogs and cats, dog doors, dog runs, just about anything pet related. so ofcourse my own cats only get a simple one, and it took me a while to actually find the time to do it...

That is pretty sweet! I bet the cats just love that! I wonder what happens at night when the foxes are out. You can bet the foxes have been around and have been checking that arrangement out...

Nice job Paul, and what is with the increase this year with all the Foxes? We more than double in our neighbor hood this year.

I've noticed them all over too, much more than when I bought my house in 03. I'd see them occasionally then, but now if I walk the dog at night I always see atleast one. no idea why, but last year one of my cats was attacked by two of them (Java saved him!!) and we're not having that again.

Heather, just go on vacation, you'll come home to a lifted Catio with bigger cats. :thumb:

I have never had this problem. We spotted a Coyote in the water holding area next to our house once. Then again we back up to Bowles ave. Far too busy for wildlife to hang out.
Nevertheless. When we build our home in the mountains we intend on building a larger version of one of these for the Dogs and the Cat. Nice work!:thumb:

We've had coyote at Sloans Lake, and if you go to Crown Hill Park any morning you can see them, esp. in the nature preserve area. a bunch of them live there, I have a pic somewhere of about a hundred people walking around the lake with a coyote walking across the frozen water in the middle of them. they lay in the long grass and lure offleash dogs into traps- one engages the dog, then the others jump it. they are wiley.

My wife tells me there are a lot more foxes this year too. We have an Italian Greyhound that was being chased around the yard by a fox, until our German shepherd mix got in a fight with it.

Nice Paul!! Our cat is mostly white with black spots, I call him our dairy cat. I have pic's of our cat chasing the fox up here, but then our cat was raised with 4 dogs, so he thinks he is king around here. No more dogs, but our cat still goes on walks with us, no leash, and scares of foxes and raccoons. This year there was an abundance of snowshoe hares, rabbits, and other such critters up here, which has allowed for many to see our mountain lion up here, some up close and personal, not to mention lots of foxes.

sounds like your cat is a lot tougher than any of mine!! I see a fox pretty regularly in one of the yards near me that has feral cats and they all hang together. Guess my cats must be delicious or something...

I have a mountain cat, chasing away mountain foxes that have a pretty steady diet of all other critters, I am positive if my cat was down in the city, a city fox would get him for sure. I have seen a fox in Denver by my mother in law's, with someones unfortunate cat.

We have at least 5 foxes around our neighborhood , a couple of coyotes (I saw one the other day trotting down the middle of the street at 6AM. Just looked over at me and continued down the road) and a couple of very big, very badass looking feral cats. There are also very few small dogs left in the neighborhood and those that are, are kept on a leash. If I had a small dog or house cats, they would have a catio like this.
