Ah, my skiing days ended when I left Vail in '97. Good memories, though.

snowing yes snowing in the higher elevations
for the last two days.

I miss skiing. Jane's bumps used to be my favorite, but I'm sure my knees and my fat would disagree now. Don't have the patience for the traffic, since the late 90s.

We'll probably get the Winter Park 4x again and a plan a week up there as usual. We bought ski gear for Annika last winter, so we'll likely spend time teaching her on the bunnies as opposed to getting much time in ourselves. (I've never been good at it anyways).

Ski for a couple hours, go grab a beer and call it a day!

It's not about how good you are, it's about having fun!! Sidebar, Jahna and I love the name Annika, if we ever have kids it's at the top of her list. it's on mine, but I like Bruce Lee for a boy, Brucely for a girl.

It's nice to know that SolVista finally has a "decent" park...i used to go threre when I was young (well....younger).

This is the video I normally watch every season to get me psyched up:

Also I couldn't resist changing my laptop wallpaper, with a little photoshop magic.

Mporter, nice photo!
Paul, Bruce Lee would be an awesome tribute. I actually just got and watched Ip Man, good movie. Donnie Yen has Bruce smiling!
Hatz33, looks like your very excited :)

Funny that you say that! Ironically enough, we fell in love with the name Annika because of a young girl in our Tae Kwon Do class years ago. Her name was Annika. She was only about 16 or 17, just as pretty and sweet as a girl can be, but she was a second degree blackbelt and one of our assistant instructors. She was so good and so fast that she could knock you from here to China before you ever saw her coming! An amaing martial artist!
(Hijack over)!

My wife would never go for Brucely, probably not Bruce Lee either. I have a friend who named his son Neo Dragon, which I really like for someone else's kid...

Paul- Ip Man rocked!!!

Um, I think you mean snowboard season is starting. :D

Just kidding, I've been a skiier for the past 12 years or so, I picked up a board last season and probably won't ever look back...at least for now.

How hard is it to to transition to snow boarding from snow skiiiing?. I'm better at water skiing than anything else, but might consider trying it one day.

My wife was pissed at me because I actually picked it up fairly quickly (she didn't lol)...I didn't take a class, I just took the lift up and figured out how to go back and forth down the mountain on my heel edge for myself. I've played ice hockey since I was a kid and for some reason I tend to think that helped...

Most of my friends recommended taking a class first, but I'm too hard headed for that I guess.

That said, I didn't focus on that heel edge enough on the 3rd or 4th trip to Breckenridge with a board, and wound up catching my toe edge while facing straight down the mountain. Faceplant. It felt like I'd cracked a few ribs from about March until June before I felt normal again. Probably best to take a class or go with someone willing to talk you through all the steps from the top to the bottom of the slope.
