Kudos to you!
I don't know how many people see picture like that of themselves and don't think anything of it....and don't do anything about it. Steve, SCRubicon, has lost an incredible amount of weight since he started working out, as a case in point. I gave him a line coat a number of years ago that some big dude left on a construction project. He was over at my house getting some work done and didn't have one when the weather turned, size XXXL. It fit at the time. He said that he can use it for a tent now. He managed to do this by watching his diet, a lot of CV work (bike riding) and weights.
Do it! your ticker will be a lot happier and you will have all that energy that you used to have!

I'm with you Joe. I went from damn near 300 to about 230 a few years ago. I hover around 235 these days but should be much closer to 200.
Lets do it!

Good luck with it! It's a wonder feeling losing weight. I'm still a big guy, but I've lost over 100 pounds in the last 6 years or so. I used to weigh 335lbs.
I'm glad my getting stuck on Spring Creek could help you out. ;)

I was 257. I got a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes last spring and that got me started. Down to 207.
Some changes in eating and lots of walking has worked for me.

Congrats on your decision to do this for your self, you will be happy you did in the long run. And to the rest of that has done it or are still working on Great job, keep it up. I am on the opposite end of the spectrum, I went in to basic training weighing a whole 115#s by the end of the two and half months I was at a healthy 155#s of muscle (wow where did it go). I bounced around that number for quite a few years then when I was diagnosed w/ Hypoglycemia I shot up to 185#s. The bad side of it is it all in the middle (spare tire) and it leads to a lot of health issues.
Jim that is one of the best things you can do for yourself being a diabetic is to lose weight and eat healthy foods. Our grocery shopping generally takes about two hours because I read every label to watch for Fats, Carbs, Sugars, and Proteins.
So to me it great to see you guys working your butts off to achieve a healthier body.
Chris
September 12th, 2011, 08:43 AM
As an old guy I can say now's the time to do it. Like Jim I was diagnosed as diabetic a year or so ago and that's something nobody wants to hear. I'm not svelte these days but not back where I was either. What I found for me was the late night can of pop and snack was very bad. Shopping the outside of the grocery store is good - produce, meat, vegetables. Stay away from the center with all the processed and prepared foods. Eat lots of fish (never fried) and veggies.
My wife and kids made me stop losing weight after losing too much weight, I have to learn some middle ground approach.

thanx guys!
ive always, well since 7 yrs old, had a "gut". but ive always been active. i played football up to high school. and even through high school, not playing sports, i kept the weight at a constant. always a gut, but nothing major. i was 230 leaving high school and quite muscular from weights training. I should have wrestled! But, i think that this has always been my problem. "yeah im a little heavy, but im still fairly fit". i catch myself saying it. even just now. hell, last night i ran a 1/2 @ 5.0, then typed this thread, and proceeded to run another mile @ 5.0 afterward. but, obviously im not fit! its so time for a change!
anyone wanting to do the same, post up! lets keep track right here. maybe you could ask aaron to put yours in the top couple posts to keep it at the top, and just update the original post with numbers. i plan to weigh @ 8pm every sunday, and my total 78 pound goal has a year and a week to be achieved! lets make this happen! in about 3 weeks, if i stay on course, ill be street running a mile twice a week. im just waiting to get my ankles in line first! and i really need to get another bike!

A passing thought; a few of you are out here in Arvada, and there's the park along the creek where maybe you could post your schedules or post selected days to meet at a designated time before dinner, after dinner, with kids, without kids but like every week for example Mon, Weds, and Fri, you meet at 7:30 for a half an hour walk, talk, swing with the kids but something to encourage each other start your disciplines, routines, habits, and if only one shows up walk if 5 show up walk but something that everyone in the area knows that at that time there may be someone with common interests (health and 4wheeling etc...) Maybe some of you already go to the park or a track where others could just join you but like some of my friends every night around 5 are at the same bar, same time, and the group varies but always someone I know - ideas are easy organization is impossible sometimes

I like this thread and I been really wanting to get back in shape. In high school I weighed 172 pounds all muscle and could run a mile in 7.6 minutes. After I graduated my dad died and I just let myself go I'm currently at 235 pounds and can do a mile in like 11 minutes. It's been little over two years now And I'm done with being like this I want to change as well and have been working on it lately. Lucky a lot of you guys up in Arvada, I got my girlfriend running with me and working out with me. Hopefully though I'll get to meet a few of you guys at the run on the 25th. Talked to you guys on forum wanna meet you guys :D

Don't think for one moment that I take you wanting to lose weight lightly. I have the opposite problem. Ever since around 16, I weighed 120 pounds. I am 53 today and I weight 150 pounds. It is a struggle for me to keep weight on. I do wish you luck. Some people are just meant to be bigger. Just like me, I was never meant to be "big". I will always be a thin person. God just made us all different.

well, edit your post and include your current weight today. and update it every sunday! it will show you if your achieving or not. seeing a not will help motivate to do better the following week. a pound a week is totally achievable. its typically not reccomended to lose more than 2 per week. for you to hit 180, is 55 pounds. so next september, hit 180!
good luck, and post all your struggles and triumphs!

I hit the wall at 325 pounds - that's within the weight range of an adult male gorilla... I joined Planet Fitness in Lakewood ($10 a month with no contract) and rode the hell out of my bike. Carved off 95 pounds. I've been lazy this summer and gained back too much beer/bad food weight. (gaining any back at my weight is never good) Time to relight the focus fire under my a$$. There will be people who support you on your journey and some who will line up to see you fail. (F’ the negative Nellies) My only advice - get into the mindset that exercise and healthy diet are a way of life and you’ll do fine.

The biggest thing you need to do is COUNT CALORIES and CUT OUT CALORIES!
Exercise about 20-30 minutes at least 5 times a week - treadmill, biking, whatever. We bought an elliptical.
I was 280 in January of 2010. In June 2011 I was 198. I'm now trying to tone more rather than just lose weight.
You can do it!
One of the biggest things that we did was to use smaller plates - it makes it look like you have more food.
You will probably drop more weight when you first start - I averaged about 2lbs a week for the first 4 months. It will vary. Make sure to weigh yourself weekly, on the same day, at the same time of day. As you lose more, you will be more like 1lb or less per week.

I am going to stay out of this thread (I hear sighs of relief...) other than to say more power to all of you guys or gals that want to loose weight. Having known quite a few friends who have made the considerable effort involved, it has always impressed me.
Reason I am staying out is because I have been buying the same size pants for 44 years. The crotch still fits exactly where it did 44 years ago and isn't down around my knees...
Aaron
September 12th, 2011, 05:07 PM
Back in the day when I lost my 65lbs, I went a bit crazy on carbs and exercise. I did about 45 minutes daily on the elliptical and ate little to no carbs. I had about 5 meals a day and a protein shake for desert. That way I wasn't ever hungry. One day a week I allowed myself to splurge and I'd have some pizza or something. But even then, I would only eat whole wheat or whole grain to get more fiber than carbs.
I've had good luck with Lose It (the phone app) as well. It's good at making you understand what your eating and how much you are eating as opposed to how much your body is burning. It's ncie because you don't have to use it forever. You eventually just know...
Not saying I know it all, just what has worked for me in the past. Best of luck to all of you (us).

CAUSE THIS IS BULLSHIT
We were on a run a few years back doing something similar to what you were doing, getting someone who was high centered on a rock off it, when the driver told me to get on the back with everyone else and rock it up and down. I responded, "me?" with a confused look on my face, the driver said, "yeah, you're a big boy!" It didn't sink in until I saw pictures from that day and realized I had become a little on the large side. It still didn't bother me much until July this year, we went to Breckenridge and amongst all the cyclists, runners, etc I felt really out of place, not to mention, the back country hikes to get out of range of people to fish, were becoming more difficult.
Now with me, I don't show it in the legs or arms, it all goes directly to my belly. Rob (DrOldUnit) was nice enough to get this picture of me in June:
http://www.frontrange4x4.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=19420&stc=1&d=1308555901
As you can see I developed a portable tying bench to rig up lines! :D
Anyway, that was 240 and as of last night I am at 208, three more pounds to go. Steve is right, when he said, "get into the mindset that exercise and healthy diet are a way of life and you’ll do fine."

Walkin' here in Arvada sounds 1, 2, 3 times a week sounds like a good plan. Like I told Joe, late dinners and too much soda is what kicks my but. Have been trying to drink more water, like a gallon to a gallon and a half a day, which would help and it's not like I stand around at work. It's the bad habits when I get home. People to do something away from the couch would help.

Buy any bike it’s a great way to get a work out. Mountain biking the best way i think is the best because it is very close to wheeling (knobby tires going over a lot of rocks in the mountains with fun obstacles scattered about) and you great a great work. Not to mention it will improve your understanding of "trail physics" for wheeling.

That's EXACTLY what put 30 extra on me. I'd like to (literally) run away from it, but can never find the time. I need to run 4 miles a day. That seems to be my optimal. I love the idea that was posted about meetups at a park in Arvada.

Well, the numbers are in. I’m not usually hung up on them as I only weighed myself about 4-5 times while losing the 95 pounds. (drove people crazy) A watched pot never boils…;) I’ve gained back 22 pounds – less than I originally thought, but still a **** ton IMO. The numbers that have me really bugged are the inches I’ve lost from my arms and legs. Close to 1.50 on the upper arms and a little over 1.5 on the lower legs. (translation – muscle) I still go to the gym but not at the same intensity level or frequency as in the past and I don’t ride 100+ miles a week. If I put down 250-275 miles since January 1st 2011 I’d be lucky. I know what I have to do (buh bye beer and burritos) and today the reset button has been pushed. :)

Awesome!! :thumb: I've been fighting my weight my whole life, and I've found that exercise in general is key but weight lifting specifically is the best, and since you already have so much experience with it I think that's your ticket. Lift big and eat clean, the scale will fall into place. I'm lucky enough to be in a gene pool that can make cholesterol seemingly out of anything, but as long as I consistently lift and eat clean I have good levels. My wife and I hike and rollerblade alot too, and I recently started mtn biking (thanks, Scrat!). I do laps at Flying J Ranch park (Jeffco Open Space) it's an easy 5k loop in the woods with little elevation change, great workout.

That's pretty cool! One trick that I learned is to burn the optimal calories and fat by running is wake up in the morning and before you eat anything go out and run. They say 10-15 minutes of intense running will actually burn more calories then 30 minutes of walking or jogging. I have the same kind of problem. I grew up where getting rid of calories and fat was hard in high school. I was working out around 6 hours a day, eating one meal a day. In the end I weighed 172 pounds and could bench over 300. And I when I looked in the mirror I still looked like a big guy.

I drink way way to much soda, and hardly ever eat. I am attempting to quit soda, which has been going horrible but i've at least cut back to only one 44oz soda a day(Which is a huge cut back for me). This past week has been pretty good. Back to 55 minutes of cardio and all weight stations. The weights suck... I've modified the cardio portion. No more elliptical machine. It has been making my feet go numb - not an uncommon problem with ellipticals. So, I do 20 on the X-step and 35 on the stationary bike. No burritos and only 2 beers up in Steamboat. I hate this subject. I've been dealing with this affliction most of my life. Any kind of stress goes right to my waist line. And it's been a stressful 2 1/2 years so far. I topped the scale at 285 a few months ago or there abouts. I seem to bypass the scales when I know there's a number on it I don't want to see.
We just moved out here to Colorado this past Oct. We joined the gym here in Idaho Springs. I started swimming, we got a couple of used bicycles (to make sure we would ride them) this summer. Up until 2 weeks ago I was riding 10-15 miles daily 5 days a week and swimming a half hour on most of those days. Weight has been slow to come off. I only consume about 1000 calories daily of lean meat, vegetables and fruit. We'll be back on it this week after a 2 week road trip with no exercise and lots of high calorie days.
I had the shock of of life yesterday when I tried to resume my daily bike ride. After 10 days at 1000 ft elevation I barely was able to ride 3 miles. I swam this morning, half a mile nearly killed me. I can't believe what set back this has been to my workouts.
It's going to be a painful process getting back to where I was 2 weeks ago.
I wish you all the best of results.
Why is a Mirror always more flattering than a Picture or Video?

Robert - don't worry... you're purty!!
And here is a cookbook you might enjoy: (you'll have to buy a used version off of Amazon or somewhere as it has been out of print for years, but there are some TO DIE FOR recipes in it). It's called The High Calorie Cookbook by Leonard Louis Levinson.
I swear, some of the recipes in this book just can't be beat by any restaurant chef at any price!

Well so far this year I dropped 30, added 25 and dropped 20 as of 2 weeks ago. Probably up 10 while on vacation. First 30 came off with the help of a product my brother sells, it's called Herbalife. It's a whole system of shake mixes and supplements. I'm not a supplement guy. I hate taking pills of any kind. So I just used the "cookies and cream" shake mixed with sugar free almond milk (130 calories per serving) + swimming an hour a day. The weight came off quickly right up until I came down with Bronchitis. A nasty bout that lasted 6 weeks and I didn't have a voice for 9 weeks. Well I also found 25 of the 30lbs I lost. I haven't been as disciplined this time with the shake mixes. As of right now I'm trying to get back going to the pool and to start cycling again. Two weeks off killed me. I haven't worked out this much in 30 years. It feels awesome when your in rhythm, but as soon as I take a break it's tough to get going again.

Nope thats actually a pretty down to earth and good reason in my opinion. My main reason for tryin to loose weight is because of these pics. And the fact that my SO is in love with running and signs us up for all sorts of "adventure races" and such. Ive competed in 3 Tough Mudders (link http://toughmudder.com/ ) and finished all 3 in reasonable time surprisingly, but shes starting to take it more seriously and wants to start knocking time off our 2 hour 50 min average, so it means the extra has to go.

I would like to say that I'm starting to turn my fat into muscle again. This is two weeks later now. Missed first sunday due to being busy!

It's time I join in on this one... I am trying to motivate myself to stay at the gym routine. Dropping the sodas and fatty foods will be hard. I have cooked with butter, duck fat, and bacon grease most of my life. My daughter is getting older and I want to make sure she gets off to the right start with a healthy lifestyle.
We are also taking her to disney land next year and I would like to be able to fit in some rides.....
I will be checking in as regular as I can and hoping for some moral support..
Brody

Here is some, coming from a skinny dude:D
I know of quite a few folks that dropped a lot of weight really fast by just dropping the sodas. Dropping beer off the list as well as hard liquor off the list of consumables is also good, but sodas seem to be the worst culprits. Also fast food of any kind. Just about all of that has absolutely no food value whatsoever.
Cannola oil is a good cooking alternative to anything fatty.
Eating more fish or white meat is also better.
Yeah, yeah....take all the fun out of eating to stay healthier longer....
Just some thoughts.
Also, FYI, LaDawn is handling a lot of products that help with weight loss. If you are interested in more information, you can contact her at: ladawn@exitrealtycherrycreek.com

I recently went to Jump Street for the first time ever. It was a blast and I definitely got a workout in the 40 or so minutes I was able to jump on those trampolines before passing out! It was so much fun! I noticed on my way out that they offer 45-minute trampoline arobics classes. Now, THAT would be a fun way to lose weight. Especially as a group in the dodge-ball arena!!!:D

Congrats on the weight loss, I hope to start dropping soon. I've been hitting the gym up to twice a day for the last 3 months well 2 and a half anyway. Lifting weights and cycling every other day. Swimming most afternoons for 30 minutes. If anything I'm getting bigger. The workouts have increased my appetite. Still I'm consuming around 1500 -1800 calories of mainly chicken breast, oatmeal and dried fruit with a handful of walnuts thrown in once and awhile. Holidays didn't help but now that they're over maybe things will start shaping up. Figure I'll just keep up the workout routine. If nothing else I'll be a very healthy fat guy.

We use Morton Lite Salt, no bread, no sugar other than fruit. No pasta (seems it's no to everything) No fast food, everything we buy is from the outer rows of the grocery store (fresh fruits, vegetables and lean meat) we drink 1-2 protein shakes daily. Our only vice as been a nightly hot chocolate made with unsweetened almond milk. About 160 calories, but worth every one of them!

I gained everything I lost over the holidays but am back at it again. Errin's comment was mentioned to me by a doctor I knew when I was close to having "metabolic disorder" which is a combination of being overweight, with high blood pressure and diabetes. He advised shopping the outer ring of the grocery store - fresh fruit, veggies, fish, etc and staying away from the aisles of prepared/processed foods. It works along with Pete's comments, especially the soda which was part of my before snack. I am not as heavy as i was back then and when I did the fish & veggies diet I lost 30+ lbs and kept losing it to the point of having people my age asking if I was okay. Confused me at first until I realized they thought I had cancer causing it.
I've come to realize I have to adopt the better eating habits as a lifestyle rather than lose and gain. Damn! Another "old guy" thing I guess.
Errinjan
January 11th, 2012, 08:23 PM
Yeah this old guy thing isn't for sissies. As far as pop goes, I have cut down to one diet soda daily. I was at 6-8 a day before moving out here (prices are outrageous here-at least $2 more a 12 pack) My downfall is cheese, hard to give up cheese. I need to eat more fish but I ruined my wife several years ago. We were eating fish 4-5 nights a week. Oops now she won't eat fish unless it's sushi. go figure!

In other words a gimic to sell it. :( Well, fish oil don't sound good anyways haha. Force factor does help though!! Main thing is you got to flex before work out and work out your joints and keep them fresh. cus force factor makes your joints hurt. I don't know why, and research has shown that it isn't permanent. when I stopped using after a week my muscle went back to normal same with my joints and was good since. Haven't noticed joint pain either right now after about a week and half.

One of my girlfriends and I are going to the Rugged Maniacs in May together. Definitely not as hard as a Tough Mudder but we figure it'll be a good precursor to the Tough Mudder. We've both fallen out of shape over the holidays so we're getting dedicated to workouts out again. If anyone wants to join with us we would love to form a team!! Right now it's just her and I. http://www.ruggedmaniac.com/
We already bought ours so now we're essentially committed (we both hate wasting money lol) so this is just going to motivate us to keep on track with workouts and clean eating. I have tons of truly CLEAN recipes and some great circuit training routines you can do at home without any big equipment. We also are getting back into hiking the incline on weekends if anyone wants to join us in the Springs. It takes us about an hour to do the whole incline and 45 min down the trail.

After 2.5 years of living on the road, with horrible eating habits, and way to much fast food and junk, I finally reached a weight were I started to feel uncomfortable. Finally decided to do something about it. Quit all forms of sugary caffeine cold turkey, and have had maybe all but 3 cubs of coffee since Aug first. Gave up all the grains and pastas, and cheeses and pretty much all the food I actually liked. And have slowly been reintroducing some things, but have remained about 75% gluten free and organic.
From these changes alone, I no longer get head aches, or even as sick as often as before, and have much more energy with almost no crashing through out the day. My goal is to get back to 200-205 which is probably more than i should weigh still, but I like my build at that weight cosmetically. Only 20 or so more pounds to go!

That's awesome news, Chris!!! Keep up the good work. Giving up that stuff isn't easy...is it? How hard is it for you to eat on the road now? How long since you made the changes? That's really great that besides the loss of weight, you feel so much better and have more energy. That's got to be a motivator itself.

This is from Arnold's book, it's a beginning level one workout plan and a beginning weight gain diet; if these are your workouts, 6 days a week, then this is enough food to not only support it, but to gain weight while doing it. I think level 4 adds dianabol... :erm:

entirely to much protein for me...don't get me wrong I love eggs, steak and just about everything else you can burn. We're all but vegetarians at this point
I've been vegetarian for many years now, IMO it's the best way to eat. That book is from '85, it's way out of date, but its a good example of how little we really need to eat, even when we're very active.

I don't know how true it is but I've been told that our stomach's are full 20minutes before our brain tells us we are.

I've been told that our stomach's are full 20minutes before our brain tells us we are.
Which works decently when eating slowly or with foods that force us to eat slowly - salads vs. double-burger with bacon & cheeze.

I going to pick up a book called "Nutritarian Handbook" it's by a Dr Fuhrman...He's not a juice guy but his plan is very similar.

I dropped from 188 to 162 between mid July and now. I got rid of the ice cream, peanut butter, soda pop, beef and pork. I've been eating a lot of egg whites and chicken breasts. I've found that eating a small portion then waiting 5 or 10 minutes before going for seconds I end up not needing another portion.

What's the thought of getting rid of starch from the diet?

I haven't done any research on "starch free"...basically we eat absolutely no "processed foods" (at home) eating out who knows what your eating. We live by "if it has a nutrition label...don't eat it" That's not entirely true but for the most part we have been "non-processed" for several years. Juicing is the easiest thing I've ever done. I feel better, sleep better and have tons of energy. The one thing Juicing is....it's fricking BORING... but results is the name of the game...and this game works (for me)

Can you run through the basics of Juicing Errin?

First off check out the movie "Fat Sick and Nearly Dead" (Netflix and also on Youtube) This is was the catalyst for me, that and my wife's cancer diagnosis. She wanted to get the most nutrition she could. FYI today she is cancer free (not giving credit to the Juicing, it was saught very early). The movie got me interested. The first thing we did was buy a used Juicer off of craigslist...just to see "if" we (me) would do this. (I just had a friend of mine go out and buy a Super Angel Juicer $1100 out of the gate-very dumb. Now he's not taking my calls. Last I heard was "I don't have time for this" that was just after "your our inspiration") anyway we very shortly later bought an Omega 8006 $250-300. You only juice FRESH veggies and fruits. You can have as many servings as you need...we have 5 sixteen ounce servings daily...you do not need a Protein supplement...(that's the first ? from most people) There are a ton of recipes and "how to's" on Youtube. I am on day 38 of my current fast. I'm coming off this weekend for about a week. Then back on for two weeks before Thanksgiving. I will say that maintaining what I lost was difficult but most of that was the crazy summer we had. Initially I dropped 37 pounds, then down another 10 before the summer from hell. I probably put 20 or more back on. Right now I'm down nearly 50 total for the year, looking to shed another 20 before the end of the year. What I found (or think I found) out was that when you get off the juice it seems like your body craves the nutrients that it had gotten used to having. To fill that need you feel like you need to eat a lot. At least I did. My biggest mistake was not having an abundance of "healthy" food when I transitioned back to solid food. I have several recipes (4-6 servings at a time which is not recommended but being at the juicer 5 times a day is monotonous and time consuming)...our fridge generally has 6-10 servings of various juices. they won't keep for very long but a few days is fine

I'll enjoy the juicing read when I get some time. A client made a glass of "juice" for me - it was quite decent - I could see going that route.
Has anyone heard of the "food replacement" working its way into mainstream (I find it curious): Soylent

Thanks Errin, I couldn't do that. When I lost the weight I have since gained back I just went the fish & veggies route and eliminated everything else, time to do it again.
Soylent Jim, it's not new. :D

Disturbing flick...I'll tell you, I went an entire year eating right (Chicken and Seafood) determined to "work it off" at the gym. I went up to twice a day 6-7 days a week. Lifting weights 3 days...hour of cardio three days a week plus bicycling or swimming in the afternoon 6-7 days a week for a solid year...I lost about 3 pounds...granted I was in awesome shape other that carrying an extra 80 pounds. I often joked that I was "chiseled" under that 80 pounds.
I just today started transitioning back to solid food for a bout a week to 10 days. Then back on it before Thanksgiving

What I think anyone needs to find is what works for them, when I was losing weight it was real easy and I kept losing it and getting comments from people that I needed to stop. Had one friend's boss who wasn't very friendly at all put his arm around me and ask if I was okay. His wife had cancer and he thought I did. I ended up eating fattening food to stop losing, unfortunately I found Hagen Daz had a real edge over asparagus.

The best and most sustainable plan I've ever followed was the Abs Diet popularized by Men's Health back in 2006/2007. I kept a healthy weight following that plan for 2-3 years (and broke plan A LOT).
For me, it was the most common sense and 'livable' plan of any I've ever done. Only difficulty I had with it was while traveling. Really, really tough to find 100% whole grain and HFCS free foods at gas stations.
For me, SB Phase 1 is the fastest way to cut weight (like when I did it for 8.5 lbs over 2.5 weeks earlier this month... in preparation for the engagement pics) but is 100% unsustainable. I've gained back 5 lbs in the following 2 weeks.
I drink too much beer. Period. And beer makes me hungry for carbs, especially late in the evening. Double bad.

Caved. Ordered sweet potato fries. This is why I must be constantly training for something (just signed up for another 1/2 marathon, in January). I'm too glutonous to rely on self control/moderation.

Errin,
How much time do you spend preparing/juicing and how many glasses of juice do you get?

Haha if only I knew, I might be able to speed up the process. The biggest thing I probably changed was I quit Soda 100% and haven't had once since August 4th. Then for the most part ive given up drinking anything except water now. Minus the occasional alcohol binge. I also just corrected the way I was eating. I am also doing indoor rock climbing 2-3 times a week now, but have always had fairly regular exercise.
