Hello Everyone,
I am new to the forum...kind of. I was a registered member about three years ago when I owned a red Suzuki Samurai. I built the Sami with my dad, and drove it all over Colorado and Utah growing up. It was a great starter rig and I learned a lot. Shortly after I got married, I sold the Samurai (it was too small) and bought an '89 4Runner. My wife gave me the blessing for a total build on the 4Runner, so after two years of wrenching (and help from Scotty at Addicted Offroad), I've "reappeared" on the board, thanks to Aaron who allowed be to join again.
I've done many of the harder trails in Colorado and Utah with the 4Runner. I built it to be a crawler/expedition style rig, and it fits this perfectly. It's more or less a standard Yota build: Solid Axle Swap, R151 Turbo Tranny, Dual Cases, ARBs F/R, 35s, etc. I like to drive it gently and slowly, so I'm definitely more a crawler than a skinny-pedal guy. I'm really happy with it...
My wife and I lived up in Breckenridge for a number of years, but have recently relocated to Colorado Springs, where we are both teachers. The 4Runner is my daily driver, so I definitely get some looks pulling in to the school parking lot. I've been exploring the many trails around here, so I'm excited to be "Front Range" again. Trails on my to-do list include Holy Cross, Penrose Trails (the easier ones...I like my body too much) Moab Rim...
Anyway, I've gone on too long. I enjoy doing trails with new drivers and veterans alike, so I'm excited to be a part of this group.
Rob
