Ouch! Bummer. Are those springs bent too or does it just like that way in the pic? Appears that axle wrap might have been a factor there.

Trip down was decent. There were two uphills, the first right at the top of Big Momma, that Will strap-pulled him up. Front wheel drive (only) has so little traction - it's amazing.

Looks like it's time to get it repaired and upgraded all at once. U-joint u-bolts instead of straps. Sounds like you had fun, anyway. :thumb:

OMG. And it's a Bill's. So sorry for the carnage, Alec!

Take a look at the springs in the picture, Heather. They are reversed flexed causing the pinion angle to point up towards the body pan. No one makes a u joint that can stand up to that kind of binding. This was the same problem that Frank was having(and what I had to cut off the spring perches and rotate the axle down for) as it gets the pinion/transfer case angle so far out of whack that something has to break. Says something about Bill's work that only the u joint snapped. I have seen drive shafts corkscrewed when this happens.

Too bad about the drive shaft. Glad you got down OK. You might consider carrying an extra u joint....and maybe sorting out why you got that much flex/axle wrap to begin with.
