And some pretty cool cars parked out front. What else do you need? This has been my new hang out and dressing up for it my new hobby. Now I just need to get Hugh to learn how to dance East Coast Swing, and other such things. I have had a great time listening to the local rockabilly and honkeytonk bands, free, and thought a few here might like this place too.

It is pretty dang cool. The decor is good, the clientele not all drunken bar nasties, the hamburgers are GREAT and the music has been why I go. I have seen some pretty talented and fun rockabilly bands. Love that stand up bass.

Looks like a lot of fun! The place down from us near I70 where Marshall turns left is having a big band swing dance thing there a couple of days this month. You should drag Hugh out..

That's awesome Stephanie! Heather and I went with my tattoo buddy and his wife to the Viva Las Vegas car show last year. It's all about Rockabilly and old cars, most of them being rat rods. They literally take over Vegas. It's a blast. You guys should check that out.
I heard about that. I believe the local band the Atomic Drifters (love them) played there. I found this place because of a car show. I drove by and saw and really sweet cars and of course had to stop.

I lived in Kansas City for a while. There's a few things I miss. The music, the BBQ and hot rods! I used to work in a hole in the wall shop and got to build some nice old cars. Donna and I love rockabilly! Since we had the kid we don't get to see the live stuff as much anymore. I want to put him in the dog's crate and come too!!! :D

That looks like a blast! I would be game.
On a side note - who here can teach my daughter and future son-in-law to dance? They don't want to look like jerks at their wedding next year!:lmao:

It's their wedding Jackie, hell with dancing if they're not dancers themselves!
Coming from a non-dancer :D

It wasn't ME suggesting dancing lessons... My daughter is concerned about it! I laughed and told her to relax and have a good time. Nobody cares if you you can dance or not!:banana:

And most white folk have no sense of rhythm anyway, so by dancing we at least provide a continuing source of amusement for black people..Of course there are some exceptions, but those are few and far between....

When you find that person, sign us up too. I can dance but I need some actual instruction. And Hugh? Yeah, some instruction would be good.

Excellent! It will be loads more fun if a few of us show up. Funrover and his wife Jess went to a few shows too and we had a blast. And thanks. The outfit in the pic is the only time I did not wear a dress.
When Scrat posted up about hot rods, it occurred to me that there would be people here who would dig on this place and the live music they showcase.

Just a reminder for those where were interested in going: The Lucky Few are playing at Rockabillies bar, 8pm to midnight. According to the flyer, they play swing, rockabilly, early rock and roll and jump blues.
A show was added for November 18th: the last performance of the Hillbilly Hellcats. I have never heard them play, but with a name like that, I have to go.

Just had to take off to get Chris ready for his wee hour departure to the Springs in the a.m. but holy COW that was a blast!!! The dancing (that i observed and for the sake of everyone else didn't particpate) was absolutely unbelievable. The band was great, and the crowd was diverse and entertaining. Great meat loaf, too!!

Did the same thing (finding band on youtube) Jock, and glad I did. Those guys are FAST! Not much dancing for me if I don't want a massive coronary.
Had a great time with Chris, Heather and their friend!
This outing should be repeated.

YES!!!! That would be great! I hope she is healing up ok. It has been a few weeks.
Oh, and I was sore and tired Saturday. When we go, and if Hugh and I dance, I just have to figure the next day I am useless.
ps- you can have the futon if you need to camp out here.

Update for those looking for free rockabilly music and good food:
This Friday Nov 11: Wisconsin Fish Fry (have had it, pretty decent) and music by the Redline Rockets
Next Friday Nov 18: Hillbilly Hellcats
Not your typical bar. They won The Taste of Arvada last week. No, I don't work there, although I think I am starting to sound like a promoter. This is a fun place to hang out so I am sharing.

Some great bands coming to Arvada for the Rockabillie's holiday parties:
Retro country honky tonk type fun Dec 23 with Ethyl and the Regulars and hard-driving rockabilly on Dec 31 with the Atomic Drifters (my fave) and Jonny Barber. No cover. I can't wait to go.
