Well, in this cause, I was the stupid one.
We had to replace the washing machine this last year and got a great deal on a newer high tech one at someone's scratch and dent sale. We both looked at it (and I have to say that I REALLY get a rush shopping for washing machines...:lmao:) and couldn't find any scratches or dents...At any rate, it has worked fine until the other morning. Load of wash in, all the cute little bells and lights going on, making all the right noises, but no water.
Since it was so high techy, I immediately assumed that some little sensor gizmo had gone out, so I cleaned off the sensors. Same problem. Pulled the machine out and pulled the back off. Looked at all the wiring, etc. Not that I could make heads or tails of it, of course, but it all looked just fine and no obvious burn spots. Moved the machine back in place and called the service department since it was still under warranty. Service guy came out and told me that the anti hammer valves (which he called 'anti back flush fittings') were the cause of the problem. Looked like anti hammer fittings to me, but I didn't say anything. Called our friendly plumber who confirmed that the anti hammer pipes were just that and NOT a source of the problem.
Rather than call the service department and *****, I then decided to take the hoses off (DUH...here is where the STUPID part comes in...) and found that the little screen on the water faucet side of the hose had gotten plugged up. Took the air hose and blew both lines out (cleaning under the washer and dryer while I was at it. After all, how often do these areas get cleaned, anyway? LaDawn didn't get all fired up about this part as I simply blew all the accumulated dust and junk out into the garage through the back door. Probably got some into the house, too, which resulted in the noises she was making...:lmao:) re installed the lines and it worked fine.
I got a laugh because with all the high tech crap out there that we all deal with on a daily basis, the first inclination is to think that some piece of 'made in Malaysia' techy horseshit has bitten the dust and we tend to overlook the really basic stuff that can go wrong. Much like assuming that a starting problem is caused by a faulty sensor or electronic fuel pump first rather than a plugged fuel filter..
