Well, after kicking a tire purchase around for awhile I decided to try the Treadwrights out. I went with the Warden AT's in 285/70/17. So far I have no complaints. Quick shipping, ordered Friday at 4:30 pm they shipped out on Monday and were on my front steps Wednesday morning at 9am. No issues balancing and I saved about $650 over new BFG's or Goodyear Duratracs. I know there are alot of naysayers about retreads but I am willing to give them a try for the cost savings. I will keep this thread updated along the way on how they hold up! Okay, on to the pics!
BTW my old one's were 265's so I am riding a little higher now too:thumb:

Looks good, what happened to the center caps on the wheels? They grow feet?

No, I took them off before I left to have them mounted at Walmart. I took the pics in the parking lot before and after having them installed. They are back on now. BTW, I probably should have posted this in a different forum, feel free to move it if needed. Maybe general 4x4 tech?

That's cool, I've been tempted myself with the great prices. I've read only good things about them, both online and in the mags. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on them in a year or so, who knows they may be in my future too!

dang, I just put new tires on my truck and I totally forgot about these. Now I am kicking myself for all the extra money I spent.

I'll be keeping these in mind next time I have to buy tires for anything, for sure. These and Craigslist first, secondhand second, and retail last. Keep us informed.

Looks good Reese, I was going to go thru them when I bought mine but they are having trouble getting 35s and bigger.

I just posted in the "Long-term" Treadwright thread, but I just got my Warden on BFG AT casings in 265/75/R16. Was going to have them mounted at Walmart yesterday, but they said it would be a three hour wait...and they only had two cars ahead of me. That's the one main thing that sucks about walmart is their "waiting" policy with the autocenters.

Just an FYI.
Discount Tire price matched Walmart's price of 11.50 per tire mounted and lifetime-balanced. Plus they swapped out (for free) my 2001 spare with one of the 2007 tires they took off.
Came to just over $50 with tax.

I would have taken mine there but I thought Discount tire wouldnt' mount retreads. Good to know.

So far I have 700 miles on mine and I like them but the steering can be a little squirrly at times depending on the road.

Sounds more like a tire pressure thing than anything having to do with the tire/design. Many of the tires places will crank the pressure up to the maximum psi for some reason. 99% of the time it is way too high. If the tire pressure is too high, only the center section of the tire is making good contact with the road. Check the pressure. Take a silver marker, white paint, chalk or something that will show up well, wait until it is dry out, and mark a distinct and visible line across each tire. Take it for a drive around the block. If the center of the line wears off, you are overinflated. If the outside edges wear off, you are underinflated. You are ideally looking for an even wear pattern across the whole tire. Expect the front and rear psi to be a bit different.

Thanks Brody! They were originally at 40psi and I have dropped to 32.5 psi and it's a little better. I will try marking them and see what's going on.

I like that trick. I'll have to remember that in the future.

Yeah, always do the chalk thing! You may want to add a couple pounds above what gets you an evenly worn line, you may end up wearing the outside edges a bit more due to cornering loads.

I have had the Wardens on my ZJ for over a year now. Have only put about 8k miles on them but they are great. Excellent traction, no handling issues. They still look new.

well, I ordered some of these on backorder for the wifes jeep a few weeks ago, and today 3 out of 4 of them showed up. Not sure what happened, if its treadwights fault or UPS, but I have a call into them so I should find out tomorrow. Hopefully their customer service is as good as I think, so far they have been pleasant to work with.

Hey Steve, I read some threads on some other forums and sometimes they will ship 3 with matching sidewalls if that's all they have at the time and send the other when they get another sidewall that matches the 3 you got. I am sure they will handle it whatever the case.

I still like mine and after adjusting the air pressure they do not wander near as bad as they did in the beginning.

Yea, that's probably the case, although I don't know what the heck to do with 3 tires. Especially since the old ones are beyond bald.

I loved mine on the Jeep. The truck had brand new BFG A/Ts on it when I bought it, but the spare doesn't match in either size or type (it is all-season), so I'll be ordering a Warden to match the rest. When these tires wear out, I will order some more Guard Dogs. I still don't think that I will ever buy tires from anywhere else. The price, along with the quality and customer service, can't be beat.

they called me today, turns out it was a UPS mistake. Three of them ended up in my driveway, and one of them ended up in Tenessee, and is being re-routed back here. SHould be here tomorrow. How dumb does your warehouse guy have to be to take a stack of 4 tires, scan all 4 of them, and send 3 one direction and the 4th a different direction? Oh well.

Their customer service lady was great though, and called first thing this morning with answers, and said that on monday she will follow up with UPS to get my shipping refunded.
