As a general rule, add a leafs tend to flatten out in about a year. Do an add a leaf but be prepared to do shackles as well sometime down the road if you're going to stick with the 3" setup.

That one leaf that you add has to be thicker to give your old springs the ride height you want. The trade off is less flex and a harsher ride. A full leaf pack starts with longer leaves, that have more arch to get your ride height. They don't need to be thicker or stiffer to accomplish that.

If you have to hold a tight budget, keep an eye out for used equipment. Many people start with a small lift. Then they get inchitis and buy new stuff. Then they sell the parts that were installed a year or two ago.

What's been said. Add a leafs work for a bit, but will flatten out. Sometimes they are stiff and won't let the rig flex.

Shackles and coil spring spacers are a very cheap and quick way to get some lift.

What Mike said about about the used junk. Craigslist is your friend. So is anyone else messing with a lift on a Cherokee...

New Leafs All The Way!! Don't waist your time or money on AAL. You will have to buy new ones in a year or so.

Second vote for new, aal=less flex

Remember, it all depends on budget and what you really want to do . Junkyard lifts are something Mike (Hyphoid) has a ton of info on. Shoot him a PM. Occasionally you get lucky at the yards and find some good aftermarket stuff for ridiculously low prices.
