Yes, Jock has committed to 2011 and 2912 though I'm not sure he'll come through on 2912. :lmao:

Not if those pesky Mayans have any say in it...

So awesome Jock, thank you!

I had completely forgotten about that list, can't believe it's been up there over a year now!

You know, I do believe in the Yellowstone being our "End" a lot closer than some people running our of paper to finish the calendar. I don't think the world will be over because of the volcano.. we wil just have a ton of wheeling to do everywhere.

Funny Matt but without any sunlight, heat and breathable air wheeling would pretty much suck.

Yep, we're pretty screwed, if this is correct:

Repost! I guess I need to find the image I posted last time - "Really Pretty Sunsets" should suffice because I don't feel like searching for it.

All you have to do is to look up what Mt St Helens did and that will give you a clue, Matt....Having been in one of the few active volcanoes in the world that you can actually go into, I wouldn't be too enthused to be anywhere new one when it got pissed off. You may also want to Google Pompeii. Those folks ended up not being exactly overjoyed..

Pompeii was partially destroyed and buried under 4 to 6 m (13 to 20 ft) of ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79, and it was lost for nearly 1700 years before its accidental rediscovery in 1749

A more recent example would be Krakatoa in the late 1800's IIRC. The following spring & summer didn't happen in New England and no crops could grow. Put Krakatoa in the US and you have a pretty good vision of what Yellowstone can do. I'm going to pursue my dream of a place in HI a bit more!

I keep cracking up over the title of this thread... "Thnaks Jock".

Oh, and sorry from all of us for...:hijack:

You're thinking of Mount Tambora in 1815, followed by The Year Without Summer (1816) in Europe and North America because of the massive amount of ash it spewed over days (and subsequent events) cooled the climate. Lots of starvation that year. Krakatoa, though it's classified as the biggest recorded explosion on earth, caused more local damage and climatic effects.

Thanks Rob, I was tempted to check my facts before posting but obviously didn't. :redface:

Islands of the Tsunamis!!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Oops, just saw this! A year ago when we were there we felt an earthquake which brought up Tsunami talk. A friend from the Midwest was kind of freaked about the possibility so I suggested we check out the ocean. As we sat watching the waves she said "Wait a minute, shouldn't we get away from the water"

I told her she could head up country but I choose not to die running! :smokin:

Amen to that, Chris!!! You'd have to be a long way up slope to avoid one of these. The good thing is the chances of it happening are very slim.
