Looking to get out next Sunday. Been consumed with a motor swap on my DD and have not been getting to the trails for way too long. Open to ideas on trails. Open diffs and 31's for me. Who wants to go and where shall we go? I was thinking maybe Lefthand Canyon or Spring Creek maybe, not sure what the snow looks like though.

Not getting any responses :( Please help me with snow conditions and passable trails, don't want to spend my first trip out in forever driving around looking for an open trail.

I wouldnt rec. Spring Creek; open diffs and 31's, Maybe consider Metberry Gulch. Did that a month ago. Very easy but scenic and fun and not very much snow

Trail choices that I know of off the top of my head that are open:

South:

All the gulches: Metberry, Hackett Mountain, Longwater.
Old Chinamans Gulch
Illinois Gulch/Rainbow Park area
China Wall

N/NW

Bunce School Road
IronClads
LeftHand Canyon

N

Sevenmile

I could be up as well - electrical issues sorted (bad throttle position sensor)

Left Hand is fine right now until you get to five points. There are spots with no snow at all leading to five points. From there, there's some more snow. Still fun!

Under N/NW, I'd add Miller Rock and Rock Creek, both near Allenspark, though Miller Rock could be sketchy in places depending on snow depth.

Needs to be posted as a trail run and moved out of the "planning" if it is going to be a run, especially with only two days before the run.

I'm tempted to stick up LHC for Sunday @ 9:30a at the trailhead - BUT - what's the current snow condition like?

FoCo had only a dusting yesterday AM though I hear south of Longmont the snow levels increased (3-5" aurora, 10" highlands ranch).

Comments / thoughts / let this die on the vine?

I am planning on running with the trip to LHC.

Post it as a run. And LHC doesn't close (except after that fire last year), though it sometimes gets too snowy or icy to run. Shouldn't be too bad Sunday.

Wish I could. We have to pick up Rufus from the vet in the morning and stick around the house this weekend while he convalesces from his surgery.

Enjoy a nice, relaxing, productive (recuperative) weekend with family.

There'll be a few photos I'm sure.
