View Full Version : Lift Question - 4WD Hardware

I'm in the intel gathering phase at this point, not sure when I'll be getting around to doing a lift. I'm looking to stay 2-3" lift, I'll be content (yeah right) wih 35's. I've only used OME in the past. This time around I'd like to keep cost down but not sacrifice quality. That said, I have 2 questions about 4WD Hardware's brand on lift kits.
1. Any idea who actually makes them? Whose lift kit did they put their name on? I saw in another forum Pro Comp, but nothing definitive.
2. Anyone have any experience with their brand of stuff?
Obviously saving a few bucks but ending up with a shitty ride, or something that continually breaks is no bargain. But I definitely want to make sure I don't spend money that I don't have to so I can get a shiny sticker to put on the side of my Jeep.
Thanks.

I know nothing about pro-comp stuff. I have only had Rough Country stuff on my rig. There have been a couple of fixes that I have needed on things from them and they have been VERY quick to send replacement parts and help. $500 for a 3.5 inch lift on your JK is pretty darn good.

FWIW, I had a Pro-Comp 4" lift on my Jeep YJ (came with Jeep when I bought it). I hated it- might as well have welded the axles to the frame. I ripped it all out and went spring-over- much improved. However, my input may not be of much help to you as it looks like you have a newer Jeep with coils.

Ihad Procomp es3000 shocks briefly in my YJ and they were rough as hell, I put in RE back when they mattered. I have the Rough Country 2.5 kit in my LJ and it has the 2.2 shocks which are great and very affordable, I'd get them again.

I have a superlift on my jk. Blew out all the shocks and
A steering stabilizer in the first two months. They replaced
It all very quickly with no charge to me.

I would PM SCRubicon as well. He had his 2dr JK on 35's for a while. I think it was a superlift but not sure.

Have my JK sitting on the 2 1/2 Teraflex lift and been happy with it for almost 10,000 miles now.

4 Wheel Hardware's lift kits used to be made by BDS which is a good company but it looks like they are now made by Pro Comp. Pro Comp's springs are good but their shocks suck.

I think you're right, pretty sure 4wd and 4wheel parts are the same company now. I saw that you can order from 4wd and pick up instore at 4wp. In a few years everything will be 4wp...
