View Full Version : Banks Power Pack?

Like most with the 4.0 we are always looking for more power and definately better mg's if you have to drive down the highway at all. My 79 CJ7 with the 304 got better mgs's than my 05 LJ and difinately had more power. Anyway does anybody out there run the Banks power pack or any other aftermarket system that they feel offers any help at all?

Is this after lift and bigger tires? Look at doing a gear swap in the axles. Get your factory performance back and keep the big tires that way.

I have the Banks Ram Air intake. It works real well

I do have to clean it ounce every 3-4 months.

no the way it mounts is to the top uppermost passenger side under the hood, so unless your going in water deeper than the hood you have no need to worry

they make intake filter bags that go around it to keep water out of it and dust

i keep a stock box and aftermarket K&N filter.. best of both worlds. protected from elements, better air flow :) AND it's really high up..

But yes, Banks power pack is pretty awesome. Jessies intake did seem to help a lot in not having to downshifts up hills as much

Two things. There's not a lot of 'wet' on Colorado trails. The one trail I can think of, I dont think even a slightly lifted jeep would have issues with water that high unless you were doing stupid stuff...

Do any of you guys have the torque tubes and the exhaust system on any of your vehicles or buddies vehicles along with the cold air intake I'm just curious if it makes that much difference?

IMO you can spend a lot of money on bolt ons for your engine, and you'll gain some HP that usually shows up at higher rpms, but a gear swap is a dramatic difference across the board. Also, adding to the engine makes it work harder, changing the gears makes it work less, so the cost pays off in durability.
