Long story short...... will the stock 1 wire, un-heated, o2 sensor on my '87 4Runner work ok if I use it on a aftermaket header where the bung is about 2' farther from the engine that the stock location? I've read that it won't be hot enough that far from the engine.

Any thoughts?

I have the LC engineering header and the o2 sensor has been moved to about where you are talking about and I haven't had an issue with it in the few years it's been on.

I'm still trying to decide if I'm even going to use it. It's a Pacesetter which I haven't read good reviews about. It was dirt cheap at the JY, so I bought it. Not sure if it's going to be even worth using. It's a 4 to 1 and will be going on a 22re bored .50mm over with a Engnbldr 261c cam.

Should work OK, it will just take a little bit longer (and I mean a little bit) for the sensor to send the proper signals. I have had quite a few 22REs with headers. All the O2 bungs seem to located far away from the stock position. I haven't had issues.

Yes, you will want the header...
