Don't have the whole story on how this exactly happened. All I know is while my buddy was away in Afghanistan someone decided to drive his truck until this happened...

Cylinders 7 and 8 are completely shot. Push-rods bent, lifters shot out, rods through either side of the block, broken cam in 3 pieces. I don't really know how someone does this. There will be more I'm sure when I pull the pistons and rods. In the mean time I am trying to get this fixed for him. If anyone has a line on a cheap rover motor let me know!

He just got back to his home base in Hawaii. He won't be back here permanently for a little while.

I thought it looked familiar. Should be able to find a good used replacement locally. There are always a couple being parted. Was it changed over to a dizzy? Or are you going to put a 4.0 back in?

I have done that too....and more than once. The lead foot syndrome........Grenaded the block just like that, too.....

Call Steve Brownell at Central Foreign Auto Parts. He may have a handle on an engine. Good guy....

The only motor I have killed was the 360 in my 89 Wagoneer. Spun a bearing, but nothing nearly as destructive.

Thanks for the line Pete, with any luck funrover knows a guy with one. If that falls through I'll give Steve a shout.

Closer to you (Colorado Springs) and might be worth a call:

These guys are all Rover motor heads, so someone probably knows of a motor kicking around...
