Hey guys my buddy Matt is looking to get this truck. We are heading out there Thursday to look at it. From the post it sounds like he knew what he was doing and this is a pretty soild truck, I know the motor pretty well but not much else. He told Matt that the passenger side front hub is not locking but all it needed was a new hub, is this true or is it a sign of something bigger? Anything else I need to look out for?

look cool.. just wondering if he had an alignment issue or anything.. He's using dual stabilizers.. its usually to cover something up.. unless he just liked it that way lol
as far as hubs, it probably just needs replaced

Looks like dirt, but could be dirt covering rust. lol. A lot of these old chevys have rust in the rear fenders. It hard to tell if the bumper is crooked or just the picture, I will defiantly look at that. My guess it is not straight most likely put on crooked but I will check out the frame and mounts.
I was trying to get him to get this but he likes the Chevy better

i can help with chevy stuff :) its a pickup but basically the same thing..........one thing on the hub when i bought my truck the passenger hub didnt work either(always locked) BUT it was because the previous owner put it together wrong so the spring was always pushing the gears together to lock it ..could be that simple ........might just be "stuck" also some grease and could work fine ......uhh not sure of many common problems on it but see what Tcase it has i would guess a 205.....i probably cant help thurs but if theres ever a question id be happy to take a stab at answering it :)
oh make sure it is a 44 and a 12 bolt.....12 bolt should be either towing package trucks or light duty 3/4 ton BUT that old it might be normal and the 44 should be what 1/2 ton used back then but still just double check :)

That thing looks pretty sweet but it is also his daily driver so something like this Chevy is about the biggest he is looking for.

that is a nice chevy thats for certain make sure he has paperwork on the motor or what he says means crap. there are alot of chevys liek that on there right now. if you can take your time u can find alot better deal. not saying that isnt a good deal just saying somebody with something better will get hard up for cash and need to sell their toy

Economics: the only way to make someone better off is to make some one else worse off. :frown:
But that is a good point, don't jump on the first truck we look at.

I just want to hear the 350 with dual flowmasters. That is a big selling point to my buddy he likes loud things lol. The other things is I know and like the 350 parents had an older burben growing up so I have worked with them in the past and love em.

yup my old burb had 230 on it and the only thing was the Quadrajet carb needed replacing, rebuildt several times but it gave up the ghost, larger rear ports didn't want to open all the time, help on gas but not on power lol.

As far as him running dual stabilizers, its fairly common on just about every ford\dodge\chevy of that era, there's typically a 15$ difference between single and double, and many people see the double as "better".

If I remember it right, 1975 is the last year that can have collector plates. If you register it that way, you don't need emissions testing.
If he is looking at any vehicle that is required to have emissions testing, get one with EFI.
BTW, if you go to look at that Chevy, pay close attention to the frame around the steering gear.

The plus to the older Chevys, parts are cheap and a dime a dozen. Chevys are know for using the same parts in a lot of truck years, so finding parts in a junk yard are easy. Motors in the older Chevys are also a lot easy to work on with lots of room in the engine bay.

Well just got back from looking at the truck, most likely not going to get it. It was a great truck but more of a toy and not a driver. Was a lot of work just driving down the street and got up to about 45 and could feel it start to shutter. Everything was good about the lift was done by bull hide 4x4 and custom, but he needs something to get him to Denver and I would not want to drive this truck much above 50 let alone 75.
Guess I should have been able to tell that from the 4.88 gears and everything else.
