My "littlle Casey" will be graduating from nursing school this Saturday! She already has a 4-yr degree in Psych. and I think she can apply that to her career as well if she works at it.
We'll be having a little party for her this weekend and I wish I could invite all of you because I know there is a wealth of combined knowldege in this group that she would benefit from greatly in one way or another...
I know many of you either work in the medical field or know someone who does. If you know of any job openings in the metro area for nurses (at institutions that hire new-grads), I'd appreciate the tip as would my daughter. She still has to take the NCLEX (SP) exam, but I have no doubt she will pass it.
It's so rewarding when your kids take what you gave them and put it to good use. We're so proud!

Congratulations to her and to you for being the mom!
I am a contract worker in a HealthOne hospital so unfortunately I don't know if they are hiring and who.

That is AWESOME!!!!! My brother in law is a flight for life nurse and loves it, it's a great career path. Nurses are in such demand too, she'll always be able to find work. Congratulations!!!

Thanks everybody!
She has 3 yrs experience at St Joes in Denver (started as a transporter and then after she got her CNA certificate, she got a position as a CNA which she has done for 2 years now). So while having experiance in a hospital setting has got to be worth something... a lot of places won't hire a new grad. as an RN.
But there are opportunites out there for sure, and there always will be. She just needs to get a foot-in-the-door. St. Joes likes her a lot, but they have already told her "NO new grads". :frown:

I think Casey would LOVE something like that! (So would I if I had any training/schooling).

Sounds like it's just like being a truck driver. Newbies go through these CDL schools but have a hard time getting a job with no experience. Once they get a year or two and do well they can get on anywhere.

She shouldn't have any trouble finding a job, us old folks aren't getting any younger and with 76 million baby boomers she'll be busy!
