I've been wanting to post up a build thread for a while now, well it's going to be more of a picture story as i just wanted a place to compile the progress of my rig for easy sharing. I'm a bit reluctant to even do this as it will be the most Tech less ''build thread'' in the history of the interwebs. It's more of a mod of the day all at once:rolleyes: May add some tech later, but there are dozens of write up on all of these mods and am always willing to answer any questions.
The start
1998 2.7 31’s 3.10’s 120K miles. Unfortunately i didn't get ay pic’s until after the first few mods.
The first mods.
Front. ICON 2.5 coil overs, Camburg UCA, Rear. OME DAKAR leafs Wheeler shackles for a total of 3’’ of lift. 32’’ MTR’s

I scored a kick ass Addicted off road bumper at the 2010 anniversary run. Big thanks again to Scotty at a Addicted off road for donating it!!!!

Since i removed the original bumper i had to relocate the turn signals. I decided rather than zip tying them to the new tube bumper i would try to integrate them into the corner markers. This turned out to be quite easy. I just drilled a hole the same size as the bulb fixture in the corner marker then used a Dremel and made notches for the locking tabs.

Next it was time to get the junk out of the trunk I did it a little differently than I've ever seen before. I left an extra 1'' on the tail gate side and then overlapped the bottom and tucked the sides in between the two panels on the front half. I drilled holes into the outer layers then plug weld onto the bottom and sides as well as lap weld the seams.

After i bobbed my bed i lost my bumper and rear recovery points. So i needed to throw something on there. I had a piece of 3x2x1/4 tubing laying on the side of the house, and a draw-tight trailer hitch that come off the truck. So a few hours later and this is what i came up with. Never mind the booger welds please. I knew that i was going with bigger tires, And one day might even tie a cage into it so i made it a bit wider, looked silly at the time but i had a plan.

The next step was 35's. I didn't want to lift the truck any higher so the only other choice was to clearance the fenders and fire wall. This took me a little over 16 hours t do. I had just moved to TX so I didn't have all the tools i would have liked too, but i got it done with a 4'' grinder, BFH, and my miller 130( one of the few things i did bring with me :D) So the first thing i did was clearance the fenders. i drew a line 1 1/8 above the existing fender line then traced that lightly with a cut off wheel trying to only to remove about half the thickness of the sheet meal then made several incisions up to that line making "tabs" witch i then folded back.
(sorry i forgot to take a pic of this before hand)

To do this again, I would not bother with this, just cut off what you don't want. i was afraid the fenders wouldn't have enough rigidity and would flap about in the wind but that is not the case.
Then it was onto the fire wall, first i removed the fender, shock and disconnected the sway bar to see what needed trimmed at full compression and lock to lock.

Take a deep breath and
http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff230/ddotdrawdoow/98%20tacoma/8-0068.jpg
Once i got every thing Clearance to fit I had to make some patch panels, using card board i made some templates then cut the panels out of 16 G sheet. Tacked them into place and then using a BFH to shape them. This should go with out saying, But watch your heat, even though i removed the carpet, sound damping and every thing else near by i still managed to have a fire!! luckily i caught it before it did too much damage. It toasted my hood release cable, clutch start cancel switch, ARB harness, and the PWR wire's to my amps, This is another reason you should disconnect your batt with cutting/welding on your rig. Had there been power on the amp wires it would have gotten real bad real quick even though they are fused they most likely would have taken out the main harness that they run next to.

(This photo was taken in Houston TX. No 4wp here has a RTI ramp that I know of)
I found some civic seats to replace my 70/30 bench. Also got a Havis console out of a 2003 police ford exploder along with a Whelen siren controller and traffic adviser:smokin:

I got the parts at frys. It took two try's, make sure you get 12v LEDs and the silver holders come with the LEDs. If not you can also find them at frys or radio shack. If you look at the bottom of your mirror (Tacoma ) there will be two dimples one one each side of the lever. thats where I drilled the holes for the led holders I made the just smaller than the threads on the holder then self threaded them into place, then I drilled a small hole on the top for the wires to come out. the LEDs are held into the holders by gravity don't glue them in, You might brake the wires when you screw them into the mirror. As far as how to wire them up, I got power from the door/map lights, how ever if you ever plan on using LEDs for you door/map lights I recommend running a new power wire from a batt source other wise you will get back feed from one to the other...... Hope this is making sense?! One you find a power source just run the power to one side of a switch and hook the LEDs up in series and back to ground. FYI LEDs have a long lead and a shor lead the long is positive take the wire from the other side of the switch to the pos side of the first led, then a wire from the short side of the first led to the long side of the second led then a wire from the last and short side of the second led to ground. Let me know if this don't help. I'm at the bar,on my iPhone so this may not make any sense. Beer+fat fingers= ??? also if you want pics of mine give me you # or email and I'll take some and get em to ya. oh ya another good place to get LEDs is superbrightleds.com call them up tell them what your doing and they will get you the right parts.
i also picked up some water proof 9W LED's from superbrightleds.com
