hey guys I'm looking for a new transmission for my 95 4runner or a good shop to rebuild my current one. Right now it engages hard into all my gears but once it warms up it seems like it runs just fine. I took it to ram's transmission off 112th and irma, and they ran a few tests and told me that the pressure was around 30-50 and pulled a code off the truck telling me that the transmission was slipping and they told me that if I did a flush that it would totally wreck the transmission.

Is it a auto or a manual if auto i had a problem similar. My 4runner was running really bad and couldn't go over 20mph and i to it to CTS (Colorado Toyota Specilist) in conifer and found out it it needed a tune up and new sprk plugs and clean the mass air flow sensor. Since those fixes it has run great and havent had any more problems. Look at the spark plugs and see how worn out and old they are cause it might help. But a good shop would be CTS in Conifer, Co.

pull out the dipstick and see what color the fluid is, if its a bright red its good if its a dark red its going out, and if its black rebuild is a must. a good shop that i know of is a&a transmission in englewood

What I said in the PM I sent you. High mileage trannies when they get flushed don't last too long after the fact. Fluid change and filter. If the tranny is still good, a better tranny cooler and better tranny fluid wouldn't hurt.

X3 on A&A, but if you want just the fluid change and filter, closer to you is Arvada Auto Tech. Depends on the condition of the tranny. If you suspect the tranny is going out, then best to go to a full on tranny shop where they can do everything that needs doing if they run into issues doing the fluid change.

X2 on what Pete said. A full flush on a trans that has high mileage and has never been flushed before tends to die a bit sooner than if you just change the fluid. A full flush tends to clean the varnish that's been making everything work.
