After I discovered my motor was bad. I went a grabbed a cheap block off CL that was rebuild-able. I took the block head and crank down to Lee's machine here in the Springs. The block was bored 20 over and the rods and rods were both machined 10 under. I got everything back on Monday, so I have been assembling the new parts for a few days now. Few pics of the progress.

The one upgrade I did spring for was head studs instead of bolts. everything I've read and heard tells me they're worth the money to help keep everything together. I also decided to paint the block and oil pan. It came out a little more shiny than I had expected but this way any leaks will be easily seen.

That's all for now. Hopefully I'll have some more progress tomorrow.

Thanks! It's a mess, but it's to be expected while in the middle of a project.

Made some good progress this weekend. While I had the motor out I decided to strip rust and repaint the front part of the frame. All the flat black is recent. Also took the time to clean up a bunch or unneeded wiring and what not in the engine bay as well.

Then today I finished assembling all of the random bits that needed to go on before putting it in.

Putting the motor in... not sure what I was thinking about probably I need another beer! It was hot today!

Just about in

IT'S IN! I've got a few more things to finish up while I'm this far. Hopefully a few more days, depending on class, and it'll be running.

Too bad about the old block, but congrats on major progress on the new one! Looking good and lots of work done for a record setting hot day.

I recognize my old Marvel Metal saw under your bench, last time I saw it I dropped it off at Pete's. Glad to see it's in such a good home!! :thumb:

Yup...That is where it ended up. I got The Word from LaDawn that I didn't have room for it, remembered Jon had spoken up about liking old tools and wanting it if I didn't and so I gave it to him. Good to see it found a home. My guess is that Jon is going to R&R it a bit and put it to work again, much the same as I was going to do.

RidgeRunner(Dave) is also having some 22RE issues with a minor knocking/noise. Maybe there is a 22RE virus going around..

Nice work on the engine install/rebuild. Looks good and I sure hope it decides that it finally happy this time around. I am sure that you have a few better things to do with your time! Your "thinking" picture looks like the expression on my face when I am trying for that last little bit of patience that is hidden somewhere...:lmao:

Lol yup, I love old tools. I got it running for a min. before the motor gave up again. Soon as everything else stops breaking hopefully I'll get some time to get that going.

Yeah you'd be right, the heat zaps my patience. And about 5min before that pic was taken my sis had called me saying her car had died. So this motor needed to get in quick so I could get to a stopping point, and go and deal with her car.
