Clear Creek County is in a stage 2 fire ban, no fires or firearms shooting!! They found a way to skirt the 2nd amendment! :)

For camping in the national forest/ national parks the map seems to be somewhat meaningless; it seems that some of the national agencies allow fires within the counties that have fire restrictions. For instance, Rocky Mountain National Park lifted all fire bans and Pike/ San Isabel allow fires in established campground fire pits (even though those counties still maintain restrictions).

I was in Breckenridge this weekend and there were fire restriction signs everywhere (and it was raining by the buckets). We went over Boreas Pass to a campground and there were no restrictions and people had multiple campground fires going (in designated rings)- no warning signs anywhere.

It is a pretty far cry to say that a firearm/gunfire started a fire. When you consider that you can punch holes through a propane container all day long with regular ammo and not spark something off, someone would have to be shooting over the counter or hand loaded tracer rounds. Everyone sees a lot of these, right? Right?

No fires is fine. The FS assumes that people believe what they see in Smellywood movies in regard to ammo, guns, and exploding cars..

I have seen a gun fire start a wild fire. Hot piece of lead hitting pin needles and you got fire. It does happen. Even with a back stop it can ricochet and then hide to you leave and bingo.

Make sure to have a nice soft back stop and look for any ricochet.

This is why in a stage 2 you cannot leave the road for camping/parking, hot undercarriage+dry grass=fire.
I need to report that Clear Creek has went back to a stage 1 fire ban.
