In a perfect world, I'd love to be able to remove the bench from the back of my Jeep and replace it with a single bucket seat making it a 3-seater and allowing for a lot more cargo space. Has anyone seen this done or know if it's possible?

Yes, it is possible. I've done it on a Toyota Highlander and Land Rover. I'm not in a position to do it now but it can be done. Its just custom work.

If it were me I think I'd get the bucket you want to use and then find a fab shop to mount it. Aftermarket seat belts are available if factory ones wont work with the new seat.

Jackie, check out the Orange Crush build at Rugged Ridge. You could do something similar.

You may be able to order a ready-to-bolt-in seat & mount from one of the seat companies. I've seen them in some of the off road magazines in a few different vehicles.

Thanks guys. Wasn't sure if it would be a good idea or not... I'm going to shop around. The link above clearly shows it can be done - I'm just thinking that may be a newer model Jeep than mine in the photos. The biggest factors would be mounting a secondary hook for the seat base to lock into and then making sure the seat belt still functions properly. I wonder if you could cut the existing bench in half and somehow make it work by adding the necessary hooks in the floor as well as on the cut-side of the bench.

Might be able to find a bench seat that folds in the middle that will work too. Then you have the seat space when not loaded up. Dunno cause that is a pretty narrow seat.

Thanks Charles! That's exactly what I was thinking about. (Might be a bit pricey for me right now).
