Anyone have any good OTC drug or home remedies? I have a sinus pressure headache that could split a atom. :frown:

You need to get rid of the pressure by removing the junk from your sinus cavities. I use the OTC nasal wash sold at Walgreens - NeilMed.
Of course if you have a sinus infection you need antibiotics.

If you try my suggestion don't blow out your eardrums!

2 NyQuil and a Sudafed usually does it for me. Sometimes 2 Excedrin a little later if the headache doesn't go away.

I love your idea Chris, pretty sure it is a infection. If it does not feel better tomorrow I may be running to a clinic.
For now I am looking to see if I have NyQuil. Might have a store brand sudafed.

Personally, when I am having sinus problems, the mex food along with a hot shower, or running the dishwasher and then putting my head inside, usually helps. Once the headache has come on though, it is typically too late. Hope the meds help!

I use the NielMed since I have chronic sinusitis due to allergies (grass, trees, weeds, dogs & cats) and it helps keeping infections away. I recommend it for anyone dealing with similar crap, simply put infections can't develop if they don't have time to grow.
Edit: Along with a Sudafed type OTC cranking up your shower and making your own steam room might help. If you have some eucalyptus sitting around (and who doesn't! :lmao: ) add that to the mix and you'll be flowing like a faucet!

If you have 'chronic sinusitis' was that determined by a doc? I have had a cracked root on a molar do the exact same thing until the dentist yanked it, just another possibility, if it is continual.

It was Paul. I did have a cracked molar but it was pulled over a year ago.

I second the hot shower and the hottest mexican food you can stand if the sinus pain is mild.

No Sudafed for me. The stuff makes my sinus bleed after day one.
I use a generic brand for Mucinex, and drink a lot of water. If you can't bring yourself to drink water, the stuff is not for you.

x1000 on the Neilmed, I use it all the time. the little salt packets are a waste of $$, regular table salt works better, IMO. another thing that happens this time of year is the heat kicks on and dries you out while you sleep. I put the little box on my furnace that adds humidity and it made a huge difference.

I have been pounding water for the past few days and it has settled into a bad cough. This is typical for me as I have gotten the same basic thing the past 5 years at some point in the year. I have fought it with Vitamin C, Alka Seltzer cold+cough (has NSAIDs which reduced the sinus swelling), hot showers to breath in the steam, vicks vapo rub at night to help keep my sinuses clear as well as a 12 hour sinus spray to keep the sinuses clear. I have also used Sucrets and Ricola cough drops. Zinc is key. All in all I am feeling better but it took 5 days. I am hoping this time without using antibiotics I can curb this happening again in the future. My Doctor did say it may be viral and I may get it no matter what.
Thanks for all your posts. I am planning on getting the Neilmed soon. :thumb:
