Hey guys I'm thinking about starting to brew my own beer next year. Does anyone here do it? Any good books or threads you could point me to for beginning? Any personal advise is welcome too.

Also what kinds have you brewed if you do it at home?

I haven't brewed beer in 30 years, but I remember enjoying it (and the finished product, of course).

You might want to check out this little shop in Longmont next time you're over this way: http://www.baldbrewer.com/

Used to but like Rob its been awhile. I used a carboy for fermenting and bought kits which contained the other ingredients. It's really quite easy.

Hey I know this is a couple of days old but thought i would throw some info your way. Like Rob said Baldbrewer is a good place to check out. If you are just wanting to get your feet wet Terry over at Do Your Brew in Westminster teaches a class on brewing extract with grains. Use all his gear and he cleans up after. Not to badly priced if you go with a friend and split the cost of a station.
It might be a bit of a hike for you but if you are ever in the aurora area i highly recommend The Brew Hut. It is attached to Dry Dock Brewing, so you can drink beer there at the brewery, and once you find one you like, walk next door and buy all the ingredients for it. Its the place i usually go for my brewing needs.
Just about any brewing store sells Zymurgy magazine and most have the beginners issue which walks you through step by step on brewing, its the mag put out by The American Homebrewers Association (AHA). The AHA website is also a good place for info.
As for what i brew, mostly darker beers, but tend to brew just about anything. I brew all grain batches mostly but still mess with extract from time to time. Really like making and drinking hard cider. If you ever have any questions feel free to ask or if you would like some help with your first batch let me know im almost always up for a brew day.

Britton and I bought our son-in-law a home brew kit for Christmas from Do Your Brew in Westminster. We wanted to buy him the class as well, but after we purchased a few additional accessories and mixes, we were feeling a little too spendy! He was thrilled when he opened his gifts this morning. He and Casey can't wait to get started brewing. He has done it before but she never has. They might buy one of the classes and make it a date night. Sounds fun! The owner of the store was very helpful. I recommend it.

Thanks for all the tips guys! I stopped by a place on 121st. And took a look at some brewing kits. Hopefully should have some extra cash to start next month or February.
