I don't have 220 anywhere near my garage and don't want to rewire for the occasional project. My dinky 90amp gasless has worked fine up until now, but I need to upgrade. Would prefer gas. Any opinions on the best 110v MIG?

I have a Hobart dual voltage that I like. But I must admit that I use it on 220 and it works much better that way. For a 110 though a dual voltage is probably the best you can get, then if you move or run 220 in the future it will become a better welder.

I also have a Hobart 135 amp 110V and it works pretty well. I would really like to get a 220V Mig welder ( I already have a 220 arc), so if you find a Name Brand 220 welder that is cheep, I will trade you for my 110V. Gas is a must, it really makes all of the difference.

Yeah, I don't think there is really such as thing as a 220 cheap MIG. I would love to have 220 already, as I would just drop the money on a good welder. For as much as I do though, I hope a good 110 should be fine. I am going to need to do a bit of sheet metal work at some point, so adjustability in heat is a must. The current one doesn't adjust and goes right through sheet metal.

Jeff,
I have a Miller 211(dual voltage) that you can come check it out, to see how well it works at 110v.
I love it!
I'd look for a dual voltage unit then you are set for when you do have 220v.

My Miller 211 Autoset rocks. Best price I found when I bought mine was through these guys. http://store.cyberweld.com/mi211migwewi.html
All my gas I get from Buckeye Welding Supply.

Sounds like I might have to try the 211 on 110v and see how it goes. Seems to be a good machine and ready to go to 220 if/when I do. Might get up your way Danny. Will let you know!

I have a very basic Mac 110 mig for the small stuff
For the bigger stuff I pull out my 220 stick welder
The Arc is like 40 years old and still works like its new !!!

Most of the body techs at work use the Miller 211. The Miller 135 (I think) is the 110v version.
