I cannot help the comparison between my 4wheeling habit and my love of a good western movie (I would argue the reason I like 4wheeling is because of the old sat afternoon westerns on TV). In my eyes what qualifies is a western without any modern music, plenty of grit and a good adventure story. I am always looking to add to my collection.
Off the top of my head here are a few of my favorites
Unforgiven - 1992
Open range - 2003
Appaloosa- 2008
There will be blood- 2007 (not really a western but the story and scenery are good, big fan of DDL)
Not really authentic but
Blazing saddles- 1974
what are some of yours?

I drink your milkshake!! All the old Eastwood ones were great. I just saw Django Unchained last night, it was awesome. Another recent one that is sort of a western that I loved was No Country For Old Men.

x2 on Unforgiven and Open Range. Tombstone and Wyatt Earp were some of the newer ones I liked. Cowboys and Aliens wasn't bad either.
For the older ones though I would go with:
(Mostly John Wayne's movies)
The Shootist
Rooster Cogburn
The Cowboys
Chisum
True Grit - (the new one sucks)
El Dorado
The Comancheros
Rio Bravo
Hondo
Pale Rider

Tombstone is one of my all time favorites. I don't really like Val Kilmer but he was the best Doc Holiday ever. Also really like El Dorado.

Great movie One of Val's best movie performances for sure! Second only to portraying Jim Morrison!

One of my favorites that I never get tired of is "My Name is Nobody". It has Henry Fonda and Terrence Hill in it. It is well worth watching.

Part of my motivation of this post is to get more titles to check out. Thanks! Watched Django Unchained on Sat night. Always been a huge Tarantino fan so of course I loved it.

The Trinity movies are the sequels to "My Name Is Nobody". If you liked the sequels, definitely check out the "Part 1"!
