anyone down to run that? should be pretty fun, not too far of a drive.

High end rating of 8
low end at 4 .. sounds like something everyone can enjoy to an extent.

http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=69

anyone ever ran it?
can anyone in the springs confirm amount of snow on trail or if it's even doable?? (much apreciated)

if everything goes good, meet at 7-11 in Castle Rock by 8 AM (big dirt parking lot in the back side, right on Wilcox st (2ns exit in CR))

i did it with a broken fuel line lol and its not far past the broadmore so i am pretty sure its been snow free for a while but can not guarantee it though i am pretty sure it was a real fast run so might be worth it to run eagle rock on the same day especially if u get there by 9 am

Robert, what's up with the 8 rating, thatharder than chinaman gulch, I don't see it.. if u say no snow, then perfect. And of course if it makes for a really quick run, eagle rock is right there, we can rn it too

im not too sure on the 8 rating either......i did lift a wheel last time i was there on the up hill part but i didnt realize it and only know cause the video ......i could see maybe up to a 6 on a bad day but i think even that is pushing it alot

Robert B
April 28th, 2013, 01:17 PM
ooh i just looke at the route in red it might be due to that part that spurs off by itself because i dont remember doing that .....if its at the turn i am thinking of that little section might make an 8 rating

Home Depot
2250 Southgate Rd
Colorado Springs, CO 80906

Trail Damage directions say to take the Lake Ave. exit but I prefer the South Nevada/Hwy 115 exit, go about a mile south, turn left onto Southgate Rd. & follow it around to the HD entrance. There will be a McDonalds on the right & Burger King on the left as you get to the intersection of S Nevada & Southgate. McDs has a good sized parking area, if you want to go to Booger King you have to turn left at the last light before you get to Southgate, there's a 7-11 on the left, turn at the light, go past the 7-11 & turn into the alley by the kiddie playland & go south to the big parking lot. To get out of the BK area go east on the north side of the Walgreens & around the corner onto a street that goes to Southgate, there's a light so you can get onto Southgate easily. Confused yet?

I'm out this time. Thanks to a mama squirrel who got into the heater/blower box & hatched a couple babies. I had everything ready, went & put in $40 of gas. Got home & tried the heater, no workee. I started looking under the dash, felt some wires getting really hot going to the heater control. Disconected the ground cable real quick. While I was checking the wiring & switch under the dash the mama squirrel was chattering like crazy, going under the Bronco, getting on the tires, so I knew she had a nest somewhere. Finally got back & watched, she got in through a hole in the firewall where my son had put in a snorkle, then took it out. She had chewed off about a third of the blower wheel (plastic), and a bunch of the plastic box around the wheel. After I pulled the blower motor/wheel out she moved the babies across the street, somewhere in my neighbors back yard. Good riddance, the neighbors feed the squirrels anyway. Hopefully no burned wiring, but will take a while to check it out. Have a great day out there & take lots of pics.

You're going to let a squirrel stop you? Where is your sense of adventure?

Got pics of the damage, but not the critters who did it. Need to check out the wiring, don't want to get up there & start a forest fire. They would never believe it was a squirrels fault.

Well, Get it done. It only took me about an hour to get my brakes back; if it took that long.

Well, come park your 86 by my house for an hour or so & I'll have mine fixed real quick. Just don't complain about the cold air blowing on you on your way back home.

Charles, I have had this problem a few times...I have block heaters and that attracts them real good. Have had mice, a wood rat, birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. Basically anything that can get up in there :( It is now a continual item I check for throughout the year.

Well, what kinda friend are you? I could even put the bad parts in so you wouldn't have that cool feeling on your feet. That way you would gain the valuable experience of taking out bad parts & installing good parts. Don't you want to learn how to take good care of your Bronco?

lol

I just spent the whole day bleeding and diagnosing another brake problem. I've had enough of replacing bad parts for one day.

How was the trail? Also, is there access to these trails from Colorado Springs side or do you have to access them from Teller County?

Is Gold Camp Road open so you can get to it? I remember when people were having to go way around and come in from the backside

Sorry...didn't mean to revive an old thread.

I am still curious if the trails have to be accessed from Teller County.

I saw on the news a while back the county was rebuilding the road but don't know when it will re-open.
