She's going to have her hair cut so she can donate it to Locks of Love. - Sorry pic is sideways - but you can see the point. 10" will be gone soon.

BTW - this was HER idea. She must have seen it on the Disney channel or something, but she has been talking about it for months now and has even been brought to tears over the conversation. We decided it's her hair and her choice. We're busy this weekend, but I think the following weekend we're gonna do it. She says her plans are to grow it out again and then cut again it for the same cause.

WAY COOL JACKIE!!!! That is right up there with donating organs, giving someone who is down a shot at happiness is close to the top of the list as far as 'really' helping someone out.:2thumbup:

Great kid!
I wonder if the "donation satisfaction" will add additional motivation for additional donations... quite likely.

That is very cool Jackie. Give her a round of applause from us! Make sure that it is cut right to qualify. I know there are some specific criteria. Would be a shame to cut it and not be able to use it.

Wow! Major kudos to your girl!

I know. I checked their web site. Plus a friend of mine is a beautician and agreed to come to our house and do the cutting herself. She knows the ropes very well.
Thanks, everyone! I'll let Annika know you are all proud of her! :)

Very sad to hear... That has to be heart-breaking.
I'd love to see the young person who gets Annie's hair!
I had an older sister who had breast cancer and lost all of her hair. My 3 other sisters and I were going to shave our heads in support of her - but she wouldn't allow it. She has passed away. But I must say that she was just as beautiful as a bald woman as she was with a full head of hair! (Annika has never been told of that story so it has nothing to do with her decision).

The deed is done. We measured twice, cut once and then shaped it up into a cute little style Annika is quite happy with. We managed a tiny bit more than 10 inches.
Thanks to my friend, Heather, (who is a pro) and came to my house with the printed form from Locks of Love, a mailer envelope and a sharp scissors!
