I have a 1995 Nissan 3.0 automatic that I sold. It was sold with a tow bill of sale so I dont really put alot of time into them because they get sold cheap. Anyways a quick test drive around the block and it runs great. I sell it to a guy and after a few miles it doesnt like to shift down past second or up past drive. So I refunded him his money and took the vehicle back. If you shut the vehicle off and cycle the key it works fine for a few miles and then it starts acting up again. Any thoughts? I was thinking it could be the tcm but who knows. I dont have a scanner that will read this thing, it does have a check engine light on. I also do know that it has a broken vacuum line from the cannister.

Make sure that you get the vacuum fixed first. There are vacuum lines going to the tranny, so that could impact it. Also, find out what the codes are. They can often reveal a lot of info, but it can take some homework.
