So I had to quit my job over at buds muffler and do not have access to a welder. Has any one used the 90 amp flux core welder from harbor freight? I was in the process of building my sliders and still have some pieces to weld and then to the frame. Will this welder work? I am building them out of 11 gauge.

I have one, I just used it to make my tube doors, but I'm upgrading ASAP. I'm not sure it gets the penetration you want for sliders, but what I know about welding could be written on a post-it. Anyway, it's yours to use if you'd like.

I just recently purchased the HF 90 amp welder, i think it would be able to do 11 gauge just fine, it will take a little bit of time, but it should be able to do it. i was practicing on 3/16 steel and it was able to penetrate it just took a little bit of time and wire.

Here is a post from a welding site,

I agree with a couple posters on this thread...That this welder does work well for 1/8" steel. I'm welding 11 gauge (0.120") steel tubing for a new bandsaw stand and I've got nice looking welds and very good penetration using the Lincoln wire.
I still plan on getting a Hobart Handler, but this HF unit is good within its limits.

Sounds like a plan, when you get your upgrade would you be interested in selling the HF?

just got the new harbor freight circular and there is a coupon for the 170 amp version for $159.00. IMO it would be worth spending alittle more. Coupon code is 26516853, expires 6/30/13.

I saw that one in the email adds and would like to get it but the garage is not wired for 220. It is a rental so I really do not want to spend the money on having it wired for it. I am not sure if buying a 50ft 220 cord and using the dryer out let is worth it either. Was just wanting to use one to finish up my sliders for now they are half done.
